Lydia laughed, “I will send a bath up and a tray. When you are ready, we can go see the children. All right?”

Rose nodded and Lydia kissed her cheek softly. “I love you my sweet Rose. If you need anything at all, do not be afraid to speak with me. I know there are things you have not told me. But my door is always open to you. Day or night.”

Rose could feel the tears gather in her eyes. Her mother was so wonderful. The best mother that anyone could have.

Even with everything she went through, and was still struggling with, Lydia was a wonderful person.

Strong, kind and beautiful. Inside and out.

Lydia stood from the bed and left. Rose got out of her blankets and smoothed them over.

Years of not having maids and doing the chores for yourself taught one how to make a bed.

Rose never had a maid clean her room, not even with them living here with the complete staff they had. Aidan still had a hard time with a lot of people, and because of that, the family still did a lot of chores themselves.

Rose was used to hard work, and sitting to do a needlepoint was hard and she hated sitting there knowing there were chores she could help with.

She had not played the piano in a long time and missed it. But after Aidan met Rhia, and with them coming to London to help Cole, there had not been much time.

Today before the musicale, Rose would play. She missed getting lost in the music and just playing for hours.

Her family always enjoyed hearing her play, and today she would remedy that.

She knew Lily had not painted in a long time as well. She should ask her mother if they could stop and buy Lily some paints after they had visited the orphanage.

Lily may not have time to paint right now, but she would. Soon, Rose hoped.

Rose smiled, and when the water came for her bath, she took a quick one. Hating that she had to wash the smell of Cabe off her body.

But also knowing it was necessary. She then plaited her hair into a long braid and pinned it up.

Having her hair down when she was working with the medicines was difficult.

She dressed in one of her more serviceable dresses from back home and made certain that her small bag of medicine was full and had everything she would need.

Just in case. Meeting Lydia in the foyer, they were getting ready to walk out the door when Rhiannon stopped them.

“Where are you off to today?” She asked and Rose hugged her sweet sister by law.

“We are heading to Eden’s orphanage. Some of the children have a cold that just won’t stop.”

Rhia smiled, “I wish I could see them.”

Lydia hugged Rhia as well, “I know you do. As soon as they are well, you may come with. I know Aidan would worry.”

Rhia laughed, “He would. But after our conversation the other day he has realized that I am able to do things without his constant presence. Someday soon I would love to visit the children. Be safe you two, I will keep Jacob company while you are away.”

Rose smiled as Rhia went back the way she had come. Rose knew that everyone was in good hands with Rhia around.

She was strong, like Lydia. Doing things that most could never do. Figuring out how to walk all over again and walking now when she still fell quite often must not be easy.

Yet nothing stood in her way. And Rose admired her for it. She needed a bit of Rhia’s strength.

Rose pushed those thoughts out of her head. She needed to be ready to see the children and give them any medicine they needed.

Sometimes all they needed was to be held. To be loved. And she could not wait.

Getting in the carriage with Lydia, the two talked about Rhia and how they were proud of her.
