Aidan smiled back and held his wife, and when Rose looked over at her parents, Jacob was grinning, and Lydia was too.
Lydia had Jacob’s hand in hers and Rose said, “Are you happy to go back home father?”
Jacob nodded and pulled Lydia’s hand to his lips. “I love that house. I always have. To see it again after so much time has passed is a dream come true. I cannot wait to see what you have done with it.”
Lydia laughed, “We haven’t done much. But it’s still home.”
Jacob nodded and Lydia put her head on his shoulder and Jacob kissed her forehead softly.
Everyone had been through so much, but they had come out the other side better for their trials. Stronger.
Rose put her head back on the seat and shut her eyes. Praying once more that Cabe would be safe.
