“A scream! I did it! I finally got my scream!”
Cabe grit his teeth and changed his blade to his other hand, keeping his bleeding arm tucked into his body.
He could feel the slickness of the blood, sliding down his arm from under the thick leather and fought through the pain of his arm and while it was horrible, he could still fight. He had to. He was just grateful he still had his hand at all.
The Renegade was still grinning like a loon, thinking he had finally gotten the upper hand with their fight, and was getting ready to strike at Cabe again, which Cabe was ready to parry, when the unharmed side of The Destruction was hit with a large explosion, and then another, and then another, as the ship was fired on from someone other than Cabe’s ship.
When the man looked over his shoulder to see what was going on, Cabe brought his sword down on the Renegade’s making the man turn back to him, and when he looked at Cabe again, hatred and malevolence on his face, Cabe looked him in the eyes, “This is for Rose you son of a bitch. You should have never tested me.”
He stabbed his sword through the Renegade’s stomach. The man looked down in shock and back up at Cabe, “I am ending this once and for all. You will never terrorize those I love or anyone else ever again.”
The Renegade dropped to his knees and Cabe pulled his sword free from the man’s stomach, and the man fell back to the deck, blood flowing from his lips and his eyes sliding shut as he took his last few breaths that rattled in his chest.
Cabe looked down at the man, breathing hard and knowing it was finally over and so relieved he had survived through their encounter. He looked up and gave his other ship a salute.
Blake was grinning down at him from the wheel and Cabe gave a slight smile.
He heard a yell and saw Nathaniel fighting against two of the Renegade’s men, viciously. He quickly reloaded his gun, and shot one man, and Nathaniel was able to run his sword through the other.
He was panting and was covered in soot and had a cut above his eye and one on his leg.
Cabe grimaced as his hand throbbed and blood dripped constantly down his arm. He knew the cut was deep but had not really started to bleed yet because his bracer held it together.
Which he was once again grateful for the thick leather at his wrist.
He flexed his hand, knowing it would not hold the rope that well, but he would do what was necessary.
He looked to Nathaniel, who nodded and they both grabbed a rope and swung back over to their ship.
He and Nathaniel watched as Blake’s ship and his blew the Renegade’s to pieces.
The black ship of death slowly sunk into the water and Cabe wanted to fall to his knees in relief.
He looked at Nathaniel and his crew stepped up beside them. The ones that had been tortured by the men on that evil ship.
And together, they watched it sink into the sea, and the men who had survived were plucked from the water and put in the brig of Blake’s ship.
And all the men of Cabe’s crew cheered.

Cabe walked to his cabin, needing to stitch and bandage his arm.
But they had to see the ship sink. And he felt nothing but relief when it sank beneath the waves.
His cabin was lit with a few candles and the small lights were inviting. He walked to his desk and sat down.
He knew Nathaniel was bringing him some water and whiskey to clean his arm and a needle and thread.
He ran his uninjured hand over his face. Relief, hope, happiness and some unnamed emotions running through him. He felt his eyes prick and rubbed them to whisk the moisture away.
A knock sounded on his cabin door and Nathaniel walked in, his arms full of supplies. Blake not far behind.
Cabe smiled at them and Nathaniel put the supplies on his desk.
He gestured for Cabe to put his arm on his desk and Cabe did as he was asked.
Nathaniel carefully unsnapped the bracer and Cabe groaned with the pain of his arm.
