He was as tall as Aidan and Cole and Rose was so happy to see him be himself.
Everyone had gotten close to him since his release and Rose loved that he was the father they had always longed for and she was happy that everyone was simply that, happy.
It was getting harder to say the same about herself, with each day that passed and now that she was with child?
That made it so much harder to not have the man she loved by her side.
Rose shook her head, not wishing to have those thoughts ruin her day and walked downstairs to eat with her family.
When she walked in the dining room, everyone was already there and there was a spread of delicious food laid out.
No doubt the work of Ida and Jane.
Rose had missed their cooking while in London and ate as much as she could.
She wanted to go to the village today, to check on Dove and to see the villagers. The ones who had become her friends over the past month.
Rose stood and Lydia gave her a smile. “Tell Dove hello for me.”
Rose nodded, smiling at her mother and giving Jacob a quick kiss on his cheek and walked out of the room to get her bag of medicine.
Aidan had a carriage ready for her to use, even though she insisted she could ride a horse, but he would have none of it.
So, she would roll her eyes and get in the carriage.
She was grateful for the use of the carriage now that she had her small surprise.
Riding to town, she looked out the window at the familiar sight and as soon as they pulled up in front of the inn, she got out of the carriage with the footman’s help.
Lucas had come outside and was waiting on the porch of the inn when she pulled up and gave her a smile.
Rose smiled back at the man and he led her to his house that was behind the inn.
His wife, Genevieve smiled at her and rushed over, pulling Rose in for a hug.
“Good morning my lady! Thank you for coming to see us today.”
Rose smiled and hugged Genevieve back. “You are welcome. How does Dove fare this day?”
Genevieve smiled, “She is well my lady. She has been doing so well that she has started playing outside with the other children. It has been an exceptionally long time since that has happened.”
Rose nodded, “I brought her some more medicine, just to be certain she has no lingering illness and I had to just come see her. And you as well.”
Genevieve chuckled, “We know how much she adores you.”
Rose grinned and knew that being around Dove and her parents was exactly what she needed right now.
Dove ran in and yelled, “Rose! Oh, Rose you are here!”
Rose held out her arms and Dove raced into them, hugging her tight.
Dove pulled back, “Did mama tell you that I have been able to play outside?”
Rose smiled down at her, “She certainly did! I am so happy for you Dove. Have you had any problems at all?”
Dove shook her head, “No, I feel better. I promise.”
Rose smiled again, “Good girl. I brought your mother some more medicine, but if you are feeling better, only take it if you feel it’s necessary.”
