He was damn proud of the crew he had and damn proud that Nathaniel was always at his side and would do everything he could to help him.

Nathaniel noticed him standing there and yelled for the men to stop what they were doing.

“We are headed home lads! Let’s set sail!”

The men let up a cheer and all headed to their proper stations, climbing the rigging and getting ready to let out the sails as soon as Cabe gave the signal.

He walked to the wheel and they cut the ship loose, and when Cabe had maneuvered them into the open sea.

As soon as they were ready, Cabe yelled for the men, “Release the sails!” And he watched as the fabric unfurled and caught the wind.

The ship jerked forward and he grinned. They were heading home.

But he had one stop to make. He and Nathaniel had spoken to the crew and they were all on board with it.

He was getting his family and bringing them home where they belonged.

And that was final. He couldn’t wait to see them.

Sailing to Boston took less time than he thought, as they caught good winds the entire way.

They sailed into the port and Cabe and Nathaniel let the men leave the ship while they too disembarked.

Nathaniel would go with him to find his family and Cabe was anxious to see them again.

His family still didn’t know about his leg. At least he didn’t think so. He knew that he should have sent them a letter about it long ago, and while he had sent one to Case telling him about the Renegade, he didn’t go into detail about his leg.

He worried what his mother would say. Getting a hack, they made their way to Case and Emily’s small home in the center of Boston.

When they made it there, Cabe looked at the small home with trepidation. He was worried about what they would say, and he didn’t like it.

Nathaniel stood next to him, “Do you want to see them? Or should we go back to the ship?”

Cabe took a deep breath, “No, let’s go. It was why we came. And no matter how worried I am that they won’t come back with me, I have to at least see them.”

He walked through the gate and up to the front door where he knocked lightly.

Emily opened the door moments later and looked at Cabe in shock.

She had a small boy on her hip and her stomach was round with another child.

“Cabe! What on earth? How is it you are here? Oh, my word. Oh, come in. Please!”

Emily opened the door wider and let Cabe and Nathaniel in the house where she led them to a tiny sitting room.

“Sit, please. I will let Case know you are here.”

Cabe didn’t wish to sit, he was too worried about the entire situation, but Nathaniel did. Case came into the room, and grinned when he saw Cabe.

Crossing the room in a few strides, he pulled Cabe in for a hug and Cabe hugged his brother back.

His eyes pricked with tears. He blinked hard and he slapped Case on the back a few times.

A noise came from the door and when Cabe pulled out of Case’s hold, he turned and saw his mother standing in the doorway.

“Cabe! Oh, my son! Oh Cabe!”
