Cabe
Harbor of Boston, March 1813
Cabe and his family all stood on the deck as they left the harbor, and America behind and sailed out to sea.
Tristan handed over the wheel to him and Cabe once again became Captain James.
He could see his brother watch him and he loved having his family on board.
Case never was interested in sailing and hated going out on the water. Always sulked when they did so. And yet at the same time it was always Cabe’s favorite thing. And Case was always happy that their father had someone else to pass along his wisdom to.
Even though their father was an Earl, he always chose sailing over being the Earl and Cabe loved it.
And now here he was, doing the same thing. He knew he needed to go to Parliament sometime, but this was more important at the moment.
He knew his days of sailing were over. He needed to savor this last journey and he was happy that his days were coming to an end.
He had more important things to focus on anyway.
Cabe was happy they were headed back to Rose. He longed for her. To have her by his side where she would stay for the rest of their lives.
Cabe turned the ship into the wind and yelled for the men on the rigging to let out the sails, and they were off.
Their journey would take just over a month, but Cabe hoped the winds would be in their favor and that it would take it to only a month.
It had been three months since he had seen Rose and he was done. He was never leaving her behind again.
While he had his reason for leaving her home, it was hard on him. Now that the danger had passed, he was never letting her go again.
Cabe saw his family go to their cabins and he smiled. Rose would love them all and he could feel himself relax finally.
The danger was over, and now he could have his life that he always wanted.

Cabe sailed his ship into the Thames and as they docked, he took a deep breath.
They were home. Finally. Everyone had done well on the voyage, and Oliver had learned to crawl fully by the time they had gotten back to England.
Cabe loved the small lad and was once again grateful to Case and Emily that they came with him home.
Margaret came up beside him and he pulled her into his side while his crew threw the lines out to tie the ship in place.
They lowered the gangplank and he searched the crowds of people hoping to see one face in particular, but knowing it was hopeless.
She did not know when he would be back and it hurt, but he knew it was inevitable. He had not had a way to send her a letter that would have reached her before he did, but he still wished she had been here.
He led his mother, Emily and Case off the ship and down to the docks.
Case breathed in a sigh of relief and Cabe laughed.
Case gave him a small glare and Cabe laughed harder. “You may have sea legs every day of your life, but some men are meant to stay on the solid ground. I happen to be one of those men. And I am not sad about it.”
Cabe laughed again and Case laughed along. “Come, I will take you home and then I am off to get my woman.”
Case smiled, “I cannot wait to meet my soon to be sister. I know Emily feels the same. As does mother. Don’t delay in bringing her home.”
Cabe nodded, “I won’t.” He called a hackney and they rode through the streets of London until they reached the townhouse.
