Rose
London, England Nov 1812
Rose wanted to slap Cabe after he kissed her. She was tired of his moods. Done with his back and forth.
She just wanted him to decide if he wanted her or not. Put her out of her misery. She loved him and only wanted his love in return.
She thought she would take Lily’s approach and just be alone. Be the aunt and sister instead of someone’s wife. Though that thought made her stomach cramp.
All she wanted was to be with Cabe. Tonight, he had kissed her in such a way that it made her toes curl with heat. She loved when he kissed her that way.
It was why she kept dancing with other men. Because he got so mad about it, that it would finally make him snap. She had absolutely no desire to be touched and held by other men, but seeing the result? It was almost worth it. Almost.
The carriage pulled up in front of their townhouse and Rose got out and walked up the stairs to her room.
This night had been hard on their family, but a revelation as well. With the Duchess coming to their aid, it was not something Rose thought would ever happen.
People were still rather rude to their family and to Aidan. Even though he outranked them all. Or most of them anyway. It was still hard for Rose to hear their scorn. She was not happy to be here, in London.
She did not like the politics, the women and their games, and the way they threw themselves at every available man, and those who were not.
Rose sighed and pulled at the ties of her dress. Cabe was confusing her again. He said one thing but did another and she didn’t like it.
She in fact, hated it. All she wanted was to be in his arms, for him to finally be pushed over the edge so he could take her in the basest ways.
It was completely wrong for her to feel that way. She was a lady, had been raised a certain way, but he made her need something that it seemed he would never give.
Getting dressed in her nightgown, Rose laid down in her bed, trying to think of anything other than the man she loved.
Tonight, she knew he was in attendance, and knew he hated her dancing with others. But she did it anyway.
One of these times, she would not be able to keep him at bay.
Closing her eyes, she dreamed of him. Of touching his perfect body. The muscles she wanted to trace with her fingers, and then her tongue.
Those thoughts were not proper for a lady of her standing, and her face burned with the shocking thought of them. She shook them away, no one was here and would know her thoughts. She was allowed to think them in the privacy of her own bedchamber. She thought of Cabe’s other features.
He was a little shorter than her brother’s, but she liked it. He still towered over her.
His dark brown eyes saw everything, and she wanted to hold him and have him hold her. She thought about kissing him and how she loved running her fingers through his shorter dark brown hair.
She remembered the first time she had seen him. He had come to ask for Cole’s help, and when he walked in, his head held high, and his dark eyes sweeping the room, she felt her breath catch in her throat.
He was the most handsome man she had ever seen, and when he looked at her, and his eyes swept down her body in a silent appraisal, she had to fight a shiver.
She had never felt like that before, but she knew that he was not an ordinary man. That he was meant to be hers. And with his news that he knew how to find her sister, it made her that much more certain.
She had not backed down when she said she was going. Her sister was missing, and she knew there was a reason she had to go with them.
So, she fought, and won. Glad to be on an adventure unlike anything she had ever dreamed of.
Being on the ship was unlike anything she had done before. Had never even dreamed of going on an adventure like this. Her life had been boring and sad. Staying at their estate and going nowhere because why would they? They had far too much work to do and dreams did not come true for their family.
It all changed the moment Rhia got there. Suddenly their world opened, and they had opportunities she never thought they would ever have.
She got to be on that ship, going on an adventure to save her sister. Not only that, but seeing Cabe, in his element every day as he barked out orders to his men, or climbed the rigging, or just stood at the wheel, his big strong body in complete command of his ship, she fell more and more in love with him.
She knew he was afraid that she would judge him, or not want him because of his leg, but he could not be more wrong.
