Cabe
London, England April 1813
Cabe grinned as he got off the bed and pulled off his bloody jacket and shirt.
Her eyes roamed over his body and when they landed on the new bruise and the cuts he had gotten, she rose to her knees and crawled to where he was standing.
She kissed his chest softly and looked up at him. “I loathe that you got this for me.”
Cabe put his finger under her chin. “I know Rose, but I would take any form of punishment to stop you from coming to harm.”
She kissed his mouth softly and then she sat back, and her eyes widened again when he took the bracer off his wrist, showing the newly healed scar.
She looked up at him, “What happened Cabe?”
Cabe lifted his arm up, and she kissed his arm softly. “I got this when I was fighting with the Renegade. Right before I killed him.”
She gasped and he told her the entire story of the battle and when he was done, she put her arms around him, pulling him close.
“I am happy that you came home to me, that you are alive and mostly unharmed.”
He smiled, “I had a reason to come home. You guided my thoughts and feelings."
Rose kissed his chest softly again and he leaned down and kissed her mouth.
“I love you. Now that I am done with that story, can you please take that nightdress off? Before I rip it from you?”
She bit her lip, “I have a story I need to tell you too before this can go any further.”
Cabe raised his eyebrow, “Is everything all right?”
She nodded, “Yes, it’s fine. Truly. Everything is all right Cabe.”
She cupped her stomach and he looked down, finally noticing the small bump growing there.
His eyes went wide, “Rose?”
He looked at her cupping her stomach and back up to her eyes that were shining with tears, “Are you? Does this mean? You are with child?”
She nodded, “Yes, I am. Your child Cabe. You gave me a present before you left. One that I have loved from the start. And one I have wanted nothing more than to share with you. And now that you are here, I finally get to show you the secret that only a few know.”
Cabe dropped to his knees, and he felt his prosthetic wrench the wrong way. He cursed and pulled his leg where it needed to go.
He felt his eyes start to water as he leaned forward and pulled Rose close to the edge of the bed. She put both her hands on his shoulders, and he placed a reverent kiss on her stomach.
Then he cupped it with his large hand. Sure enough, she had a swell there and he wanted to see it.
So he untied the top of her nightdress, and then impatiently ripped it from her.
She was nude, and her stomach protruded, perfectly round with the smallest swell growing there.
He kissed her stomach again and held her close.
He looked up at her as she ran her hands through his hair. She had tears shining in her eyes. “You are happy? Truly?”
He nodded, “My woman is having my child. I could fly.”
Rose’s face broke into a wide grin. “I am so happy too, Cabe.”
