Charlotte nodded, and then they left the room and the men all stared at the door.
Aidan spoke up, “I had no idea that she still lived. Jacob didn’t either. I cannot believe it. But yet, this isn’t new. I do not know why I am surprised at all.”
Cole nodded, “That is completely not what I expected. But she has shaken us up in the best way.”
He gestured to Persephone and Brooks kissed her hand again.
“She certainly did.”
The other men agreed and then left Brooks alone with his wife.
He gently climbed in bed with her and kissed her lips as softly as he could.
“I love you. Until the end of time, I will love you.”
She gave a tiny sigh as if she had heard him and he closed his eyes, thanking God for her life and that the bullet had not killed her.
Grateful for Grant that he had shot Reginald and had saved Persephone’s life.
