Aidan grinned again, “His name is Alexander Elijah Aidan St. Andrew.”

Persephone grinned, “Oh, I love it. Alexander.”

Aidan led them to the bed and Rhia was there, looking as beautiful as she always did.

The tiny boy was wrapped up in a blanket and his full head of dark hair was peeking free.

His sleeping face was calm and peaceful as Rhia held him and when Rhia looked up, she smiled.

“Come, please. Meet our son.”

Persephone took a step forward and sat on the edge of the bed, and Rhia very gently handed her the baby.

Brooks watched Persephone take the baby and hold him so carefully.

She stroked her finger over Alexander’s soft cheek and then over his hair.

“He has so much hair! He looks just like Aidan.”

Aidan gave a soft chuckle, “He certainly does.”

Brooks looked down at the tiny boy and then at Aidan. “Did you ever believe that this would have been your life last year?”

Aidan laughed, startling the baby and making him squirm a little before Persephone gave him a gentle pat and settled him down.

“No. If someone had told me last year that I would meet the woman that was destined to be my wife and the mother of my children I would have laughed right in their face. Let alone if someone told me everything else that happened. It is almost unbelievable. But I am grateful. More than anyone here knows that I found her. And that she started our lives in a new direction. One that has changed our lives and many around us for the better. Yours and Persephone’s included.”

Rhia smiled at Aidan and he leaned down and kissed her.

Brooks looked at the small baby again, and then at his own wife who cradled the boy to her chest and cooed at him.

His chest hurt and he longed for that day when it was their own child.

The baby fussed and started crying, and Persephone handed the baby to Rhia and he rooted around, and Brooks turned his back and when the baby stopped crying and he heard a suckling sound he turned back and helped Persephone stand from the bed.

“He is beautiful Rhia. Absolutely perfect.” She said and Rhia smiled, “I think so too. As Aidan said, I never thought my life would be like this. Never thought so when I was in the stagecoach last year. I just wanted to start a new life in Scotland and leave my sad memories behind. And I did that the moment I was lifted into Aidan’s arms. He is my entire life. And he gave me our son. I did not know that life could be this perfect.”

Persephone kissed Rhia’s cheek and then they left.

Julia was in the hallway, and she had a tray in her hands and Persephone leaned in and kissed Julia’s cheek.

Julia’s stomach was also swollen, and Persephone laughed, “There must be something in the air here.”

Julia laughed, “There certainly is.”

Persephone smiled, and Julia said, “I am so relieved to see you well. When you were taken, Rhia and I were both so worried.”

Persephone smiled, “Thank you. It was scary and I am happy that it ended how it did. With everyone still alive.” A

Julia nodded, and Brooks pulled his wife away and Julia gave a brisk knock on the door.

Aidan smiled when the door opened, and Brooks waved and then pulled his wife down the hallway and to their suite.

Charlotte was coming out of her room and smiled at them, “Good morning. Did you break your fast yet?”

Brooks shook his head, “We went to see the baby first.”

Charlotte smiled, “I haven’t seen a baby in so long it is wonderful. I already just love being here. As everyone said.”
