Persephone
Northumberland, England July, 1813
They had decided against moving back to the cottage.
She loved being around everyone too much. And Eden was close to delivering, so she wanted to be here for that.
Brooks had been fine with what she wanted, and she loved him even more for it.
He had grown close to her mother and Persephone loved their newfound relationship also.
Lydia and Charlotte also became fast friends and Charlotte had started learning all she could about healing and had gone with Lydia to the village a few times to help.
Charlotte had also been introduced to Oliver, and sparks had flown.
Persephone loved that Oliver treated her mother like she was a queen and Aidan had vouched for the man.
Charlotte was a completely new person here at the estate. She had gained weight, and Persephone had taken it upon herself to ask Lydia to order them both a new wardrobe.
They had the funds to do so, and Charlotte was happy here.
Just as Aidan had promised.
Everyone had stayed at the house, and though Burk went a few times to London to check on the salon, he stayed as well.
Brooks had gone once and made it a quick trip. He hated every second of it he had said and had never left again.
She loved it. She had been safe and when Brooks had returned, he came with news.
Bruce had been killed in prison. The first day he had been there.
Kitty had been thrown out of their house and was now living on the streets in Whitechapel, but Brooks had spread the word about her and her evil ways and no one helped her.
And Reginald had lost two fingers because of Grant and had been the one to kill Bruce.
He had been beaten severely for this and had been sent to the hulks as punishment.
He was not doing well, and she was not sad. She felt free for the first time in months and knowing that she had so many people to keep her safe here as well, was something she did not know she needed.
She was sitting in the garden, enjoying the sunlight and Rhia had brought little Alexander down.
They had talked and Persephone had held the baby while Rhia soaked up the sunlight.
He slept through the entire exchange and Persephone loved how calm he was.
He rarely cried and whenever he was awake, he observed everything he could.
It was odd for a baby that young, but Rhia and Aidan loved it.
Aidan came down and took the small boy from Persephone’s arms and cradled him in his large ones.
Alexander stretched and woke but did not fuss. He just stared up at Aidan and Aidan smiled down at his son.
Rhia stood and walked to them and Persephone loved their love.
It was as if they needed to be next to each other at all times.
And it was wonderful.
