Epilogue

Brooks

Over the next month, Lily and Rose both grew closer to their time of birth.

He could feel the excitement in the house, and it was a fun time to see who would go first.

It turns out that they ended up having their babies on the same day, an hour apart.

Lily delivered a little boy who they named, Graydon Thatcher Mason and then Rose who also delivered a boy. He was named after Cabe’s father, Cade Michael James.

Lydia had been run ragged and thankfully had Anneliese there and Charlotte.

Between them, they kept the mothers safe and the fathers from breaking down in fear.

And Brooks had laughed when Burk held his tiny son.

Who had just a peach fuzz of pure black hair, much like his father.

Burk had teared up and held the tiny boy to his chest, and Brooks saw Gray reach out his finger and grasp Burk’s and Burk broke down into tears.

Brooks had comforted his brother and had picked up the tiny boy as well.

He had a nose like Lily’s but was a spitting image of his father.

And Brooks grinned, “You did great my brother. I am happy for you both.”

Lily had smiled up at him and he kissed her cheek and handed her back her son.

Burk had pulled him in for a hug, “This will be you soon. I cannot wait.”

Brooks grinned, “I cannot wait either.”

Then Persephone pulled them over to see Rose and their son.

He had a little more hair than Graydon did, but his was more blonde, like Rose.

And he was a perfect mix of his mother and father.

Cabe was beaming with pride and Rose was nursing their son, who was eating as if he never had before.

It made Persephone laugh and Cabe let out a chuckle. “My son is apparently hungry.”

Brooks shook his head, “Like his father.”

Cabe let out another laugh and their son barely moved. He was too busy eating.

Lily and Burk’s son was a little fussier, but he calmed whenever Burk held him.

And yet Cabe and Rose’s son? He never made a sound.

He just ate and slept and was happy with whoever held him.

Brooks would laugh when they would all be in the same room, and they would swap babies back and forth and not one talked of having a wet nurse or a nanny.

They were all happy to just help each other out and there were enough people around to do just that.

It was pure bliss and he loved every moment of it. Wishing they could have their child soon.
