And Joshua’s wife came, she was called Violet. They had four children, three boys and a girl. Benjamin, Caleb, Adam and Hannah.
And they all sat gathered around as Brooks told them about his life. Every little thing they wanted to know.
Helena and Henry both struggled when he told them of Amelie’s death and how he had lived on the streets.
But he assured them all was well. He had his brother by his side, and he was fine. Truly.
Then he told them about everything else. They sat in fascination as he did and asked the occasional question.
When he finished his tale, they all asked what they could and he asked them questions in return.
And as the day bled into night, Brooks got to know the family he never knew was out there.
Helena had them stay at the house and as the week went on, Brooks fell in love with his family.
As did Persephone and when it was time for them to go home, Brooks promised to return after the birth of their child and that they were welcome to come and visit at Aidan and Rhia’s whenever they saw fit.
They had agreed and Brooks and Persephone left his family with happy hearts.
They had found out all they could about him and his past.
Knowing that they were there when he needed them was a good feeling.
Joshua had asked him that when Sarah, Amelia and Hannah were older if they could go to London for the season and Brooks had nodded, “My wife would love to sponsor them all. Please.”
Persephone had nodded, “Oh, yes please. We would love that. Next season?”
The girls had all nodded and made plans to visit when they could.
Persephone had told him how happy she was that they had found his family.
That he finally knew his past. And he had pulled her in close and kissed her.
He shut his eyes and thanked his parents for the gift they had given him.
Her, and his life. His new family in the St. Andrew’s and the old family in the Parker’s.
For once in his life, he had everything he had ever dreamed of and it was better than anything he had ever imagined.
He pulled his wife close and felt their child kick his hand when he rested it on her stomach.
He leaned down and kissed the swell there, “I love you my sweet.”
Then he kissed his wife and thanked his stars for his perfect life.
It had taken a lot to get where he was, but those lessons taught him to be the man he was now.
And he would not change it for the world.
