Persephone just sat and stared into the flames, saying nothing. Her mother had no idea that she had lost her virginity long ago and that she had been intimate with Brooks several times over.
Though her mother seemed to care if she was not alone with Reginald and she did not know why. She was so fixated on keeping them in her sights and Persephone hated being watched so closely.
Anneliese brought her back to the present as she fixed her hair once again and then left her alone.
Persephone let go of the hold she had on her emotions and sobbed.
This had sealed it for her. She knew without a doubt that her parents cared nothing for her aside from what she could do for them and that her reputation was the only thing she had of barter.
She knew that it was time to get out of here. She would not be touched by that man ever again.
Not if she could help it.
She had to plan her escape and knew that Brooks was right and that she needed to get away.
