When she got to him, she turned around and walked faster the other way.

He watched her hips sway when she walked, and it was mesmerizing.

He looked away from her backside as she spun, and he smiled at her.

Dropping his arms, he walked to where she was standing. “You look much more steady today. And you swear to me you feel all right?”

She nodded and he gave one swift nod in return. “All right then, my next question to you is this, do you wish to walk around on the deck?”

She nodded again and he pulled her arm through his and kissed her fingers softly.

“There is something I wished to discuss with you.”

She looked up at him, “All right,”

He gave her another smile and kept leading her up to the deck. When they were in the bright sunlight, Brooks walked slowly making certain she could keep up.

She gave him a soft nudge, “You wished to speak with me?”

He let out a small sigh, “I know that we are arriving back in London soon. Cabe said it is possible we will be there tomorrow or the next day. And I am worried Persephone.”

She stopped walking, “Why?”

He looked down at her beautiful face, “I am worried you will be taken away from me. That when we get back, your parents will make certain you are never out of their sight again. With what you have told me about them, I just know it to be true. But I do not want that. I do not want to not be able to see you again. To know you are going to be hurt or given something you do not want anymore. I cannot stand it. Do you feel what is happening between us?”

She bit her lip, and then looked down, Making his heart drop into his stomach. When she looked back up, she nodded, “I know you are right about all of that. And of course, I feel what is happening. You think I want my parents to keep me from you? That is my worst nightmare. I am terrified I will never see you again Brooks.”

He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly. “I will not let that happen Persephone. I will not do it. From the moment I saw you and held you in my arms you were the woman for me. The only woman. I love you.”

She gave a small gasp and looked up at him, “You love me?”

He nodded, “More than my own life.”

She smiled, “I love you too. I never knew there was a man out there like you. One that made me want to fly.”

He leaned down, needing to feel her soft mouth under his. He had been a gentleman and tried to give her time, but after hearing her words of love, he was done.

And he leaned down and kissed her soft pink lips, just for a moment, letting her feel his claim on her and she sighed.

“That was my first kiss.”

He grinned, “As it was mine.”

She gasped again, then sputtered out her next few questions. “I beg your pardon? But how? Have you seen yourself? You are the most handsome man I have ever seen.”

He laughed, “Thank you sweet. It is not every day that the woman I love calls me handsome.”

He winked at her and then sobered a little. “To be completely honest, I just have never seen a woman I wanted in that way. Never once has it crossed my mind, until you. I also had my reasons and have not apologized for it.”

She hugged him, “I like that. To be honest with you, I have never seen a man I would want, until you as well.”

She snuggled into his chest and Brooks kissed the top of her head before he started walking again.

“Do you wish to hear the plan I have? For you and your parents? For us?”

She nodded, “Yes, please.”

Brooks looked down into her golden eyes, “I want you to marry me. Tonight. They won’t be able to take you from me if we are wed.”
