Brooks
Northumberland, England April 1813
The house was a flurry of activity when everyone arrived from London and Brooks loved it.
The wedding was beautiful, and Persephone loved seeing Rose again.
She had been shocked to see Rose’s stomach swollen with a child but loved it.
She had told him as much one night after everything had quieted down for the night.
She had not gone up the room when Rose was getting ready but had been at the ceremony. He wanted her by his side, and she had acquiesced to his wants.
They were both so happy to see her friends get married and she held his hand the entire time.
He had kissed her every once in a while and had whispered in her ear his own vows.
“I vow to love you and cherish you for the rest of our lives. You are my world. My soul, the beat of my heart and the breath in my lungs.”
She sucked in her breath and he said, “Thank you for choosing me. For loving me and for coming back to me.”
She nodded and leaned into his large body further.
The crowd around them cheered and they congratulated the couple and the party, ate dinner and then danced all night. It was the first dance she had ever attended where she was able to actually dance.
He helped her quickly learn the steps of the first dance and she laughed with him as the two danced their country dance.
He taught her the steps for the next few dances, and she danced with Aidan, Cole and Burk.
Then the waltz started, and Brooks claimed her for it, and that dance was pretty much the most perfect one.
He was careful and slow, making certain she was able to get through the steps and not fall.
She felt like a queen and told him so. Over and over.
He would kiss her when he could, and she melted into his touch.
After the waltz ended, and they had to release their hold on each other, Brooks inclined his head to her and she smiled at him.
He mouthed, “I love you.”
She said it back to him softly and then Jacob came up to her, “May I have this next dance?”
She grinned and accepted and watched Brooks dance with Eden.

Persephone loved seeing Brooks dance with his sister and Jacob helped her learn the dance and she laughed with him as he taught her.
“I apologize, it has been a while since I have danced.” He said and she smiled at him, “It is my first-time dancing, so you cannot be worse than I am.”
He gave a chuckle and said, “Then we will learn together.”
She nodded and they went through their dance and only had a few missteps, but they just laughed and enjoyed their dance.
When the music ended, she thanked Jacob and he walked her to where Brooks was standing.
Brooks shook Jacob’s hand and thanked him, and Jacob smiled, then kissed her hand.
