He laughed and they started a splashing war before he took her in his arms and dunked them both in the water.
She came up spluttering and laughing. Wiping the water from her face and pushing the long length of her hair back from her face.
He kissed her and tasted the river water and her.
Then they sat in the cool water for a few moments until she started shivering.
He picked her up and brought her to the bank using his shirt to dry her as much as he could and finally stripping her bare and put her in his shirt and then wrapped his coat around her.
His shirt fell to her knees and she laughed at the sight.
He pulled his coat tight around her and then kissed her lips again.
“Come, we can get dry clothes.”
She nodded and he picked her up in his arms and she held her dress and shoes and snuggled into his arms.
It was perfect.
