She gave a huff, “I have worked alone a lot. I do it all the time. It’s my business Gunner. I am sure you work alone. So don’t try to get all huffy. Before I met you it was fine and it will be now.”

Then she hung up on him. He looked down at his phone in shock and then called Miles back, “Miles, it’s my day off. Or did you forget?”

“Sorry, but this is important. Someone broke into the building last night and tried to break into your office. I am having the security team look it over, and Steele said he would let us know, but they stole some files off my desk.”

Gunner cursed, and then ran to his room, not bothering with a shower. He didn’t care that he was sweaty and still smelled like Arielle.

He knew it would be the only thing that calmed him, “On my way.”

“Okay, see you soon.”

Gunner threw clothes on, and then was out the door in 5 minutes. He was still angry that he had gone overboard with Arielle yet again and now this? Today was supposed to be a day with him in bed, claiming his love over and over.

He had no idea sex could be like that. Not that he had done it before, and knew it was different because it was with the love of his life, he just wasn’t prepared for how amazing it was claiming her like he did.

He let those thoughts go, needing to worry about his company for now and then he would go apologize to his woman. She deserved it all.

When he parked his car in his spot and went up in the elevator to his office, he was angry.

He wanted to know who had done this and what was going to happen to any of his clients as a result.

When he stepped out, he was met by Miles, and his security team. They were a company started by retired SEALS and he trusted them and their judgement.

Their leader, Steele Reynolds was a tall man, at least 6’7 if not taller. He was intimidating, but was kind.

They shook hands and Steele said, “We are gathering intel still about the intruder, but he seems to know your layout and was versed in where your office is, and where your important files are.”

Gunner raised his eyebrow, and then looked at Miles, “What was in your desk?”

“The only files we had was the eviction notice for the shop. And all the intel we had on them and how to get them out.”

Gunner turned around, and punched the wall, “FUCK!”

Arielle. She was in trouble. He looked at Steele, “I know who did it.”

Steele raised his eyebrow and gestured to one of his men, “Go ahead,”

Gunner growled, “His name is Neil Rose. He has wanted to work for my company for months, but I don’t like how he conducts his business. And I told him so the other day.”

Steele and the other man nodded, “We are on it. Do you know any information on him?”

Gunner shook his head, “I just know he has his base of operations over on Main Street. But that’s it.”

Steele’s man, he thought it was Crew, nodded. “Got it. I will take Scout, and Jet is still working on the cameras.”

Steele nodded, “Keep me updated.”

Gunner stopped the men, “I have a thought of where he could be actually.”

Crew turned back and raised his eyebrow, “I think he may be trying to get at me by hurting my girl.”

Steele turned to him, his arms crossed, “Crew, you and Scout still go check out his business, and on the way, do your best to find what you can on him, I will go with Gunner and make sure his woman is safe, Jet, you keep working on the surveillance. Miles, you stay here and see if anything else is missing.”

They all did as Steele said and Gunner was in his car with Steele in the passenger side in minutes.

As they drove to Arielle’s shop, Gunner could feel his dreams slip away and tried his best to hold onto them with all the hope he could muster.
