Gunner
After Steele had pulled him from Arielle’s store, he had felt his dreams crash to the ground.
Steele almost had to put him in the car and when they got back to his office, Gunner let his anger flow.
He threw a punch at the wall, feeling the sheetrock give under his fist and he did it again.
He didn’t care if it was hurting him or if he looked insane. He just lost everything.
Then he turned, and the men all watched him, especially Miles.
“He got to her, I take it?” He asked and Gunner gave a single nod.
“Shit. I am assuming it didn’t end well?”
Gunner didn’t answer, and Miles shook his head, “I’m sorry Gunner. What can we do?”
He shrugged, “I don’t know. She was devastated. I watched my future crash down around me today, Miles.”
Steele cleared his throat, “We got the footage reviewed. It was Neil. Just wanted to let you know so we could put his ass away. My men also did some more digging. We have videos of him knowingly cutting corners in his builds and putting his crew in danger because of it. There has been a man investigating him, but could never nail him down. Do you want to see?”
Gunner nodded and Jet took a step forward, his laptop up and ready.
The men crowded around as they watched the video footage from today and the one from weeks ago.
Someone had been videoing it from their cell phone and the video was shaky, but you could hear Neil telling his foreman that it didn’t matter that the foundations weren’t stable. They just needed to cover up the issues and that it would be fine.
They needed their money back from this and they would do it in the fastest way possible.
Neil also told his foreman to use half the length of the nails that they normally used.
The ones that were meant for this kind of job. And the fact that they weren’t showed Gunner a lot.
Neil truly didn’t care for anyone but himself.
He stood and started pacing, “Send this and whatever files you have on him to whoever needs to see it. We need to lock his ass away for the damage he could have done. And we need to send someone to check on those homes. If he did what he said, those foundations could crumble and the people inside could be hurt.”
Steele looked at his Jet and then sent a text to his other men.
“Done. You driving or me?”
Gunner led Steele to his car and they drove to the houses that Neil had built.
One of them was in a precarious situation. It’s foundation was crumbling away in spots and when the sprinklers turned on, it would crumble faster.
The steps were uneven and the house groaned at the weight of their bodies.
Gunner knocked on the door and when it was opened, with some difficulty, a young girl stood there.
She was about 6 years of age and she was an adorable girl.
The house was spotlessly clean from what they could see and Gunner looked down at the girl. “Where is your mommy?”
A woman came around the corner, “I am here. I’m her aunt. Can I help you?”
She was dressed in scrubs, and her face was filled with confusion.
He took a small step forward, “Ma’am, we need to talk to you about your house.”
