Chapter Five

Rickie

After Steele dropped her off, she changed into some new clothes and did her hair.

Then she put some light makeup on and drove to Raiden’s office.

He was there, drinking a cup of coffee and looked up, “Hey there. How are you?”

She smiled, “I’m good. My date went great last night.”

Raiden grinned, “Yeah? Steele finally got his head out of his ass?”

Rickie shook her head at her brother’s playful banter. “Yes, he did. He's wonderful. I love him.”

Raiden’s smile didn’t falter. “I’m happy for you, you know.”

She hugged him, “Thanks for telling him where to find me.”

Raiden nodded, “He would have figured it out sooner or later. I just gave him a nudge.”

She smiled, “Good. He needed it.”

He laughed and then showed her what needed to be done for the day, and she loved how easy it was to work for him.

It was less stressful than the bank and she wanted to kick herself for not taking him up on everything sooner.

She loved the environment of the office and the guys that worked for Raiden were the best guys around.

They were so kind to her and Harrison answered any questions she had.

By the end of the day, she had come up with a new system that worked much better for her. She'd gone through most of the paperwork that Raiden hadn’t had the time to file yet.

She was also trying to figure out a way to digitize everything so nothing would be lost. She'd pulled her hair up in a bun and had worked hard today.

Raiden knocked on the office door, he was covered in sawdust and had some in his hair. “You know, I was able to get so much done today because I knew you had it handled.”

She smiled, “Good. I’m only sorry I didn’t see this sooner. Help you out more.”

He shook his head, “I had it figured out, but I’m glad you're here now. I love being able to get dirty with the guys. Not just do paperwork in the office.”

She laughed and stood up, “I think I’m done for the day here. I could stay here all night, but don’t want to.”

Raiden smiled, “Go home and relax. It will be here tomorrow.”

She kissed him on the cheek and headed to her car. When she got home, a familiar truck was in her driveway and she was smiling before she even put her car in park.

Steele was waiting on her front porch, another bouquet of flowers in his hands. he hurried up to him and he pulled her in for a one armed hug and kissed her.

“Hey Bombshell. How was your day?”

She grinned, “It was fun. Working for Raiden will be a breeze. I love it so much more than I ever did the bank. Plus, the guys there are so protective over me.”

He let out a growl at the mention of other guys. She was thrown over his shoulder and her keys were plucked from her hand. He unlocked the door, and brought her inside before she could say anything else.

He kicked the door shut and put her back on her feet, kissing her hard.

“No other guy gets to be protective over you.”
