Soraya looked up at him, and he kissed her once more.

Then he took her hand, and led her from the room, “Let’s go get some new clothes.”

She followed along behind him and he took her to a small establishment that had all sorts of ‘clothes’.

He helped her buy a bunch of them and she put them on, taking off her shells and putting on what was called a ‘bra’. And then she put on what the woman that was helping her called ‘panties’.

Then she pulled on some pants and a shirt.

She was grateful that she knew what they were called and though they felt weird against her skin, she would wear them without complaint.

She walked back out to where Cruiz stood next to a tall counter and the girl there was twirling her hair around her finger and blinking a lot.

Cruiz didn’t even look at the girl as she spoke to him, just nodded and kept his eyes fixed on the ground.

Soraya wanted to laugh, “Cruiz, does this look alright?”

Cruiz looked up, his dark eyes looking her up and down, “You look wonderful.”

The girl at the desk gave an annoyed sounding huff and turned to do some paperwork behind her.

Cruiz drove them back to his house, he held her hand the entire time and she had never felt this close to another person before.

It was as if she'd found her missing link and for the first time she was at peace.

She knew she needed to sing to him to see if he would be affected by her song, but she was nervous.

So for now, she would take the feeling of rightness that came from being around Cruiz.

He picked up her hand and kissed the back of it, making her let out a soft sigh.

“Should we check on the calf? I know Fin fed it, but I would feel better if I examined her myself.”

Soraya nodded and Cruiz helped her out of the truck he was driving and led her into the house, and straight to the small tank of water that now housed the small baby.

When it saw them, it started clicking, screeching and swimming in circles as if it was excited.

Soraya laughed and knelt down beside it, listening to it speak to her.

It told her how happy she was that she was full, but that she missed her mom.

Soraya’s heart broke when she heard that, but she knew that they would find the baby a new pod to live with if it was the last thing she did.

Cruiz stood next to her and laughed as the baby clicked and spoke to her, “Well, she certainly has a lot to say.”

Soraya looked up, shocked that he could understand the little dolphin like she did.

“You can understand her words?”

Cruiz’s eyebrows drew together, “What? No, I was just saying that because she seems excited. Can you understand her?”

Soraya didn’t know what to say, so she sat quietly and Cruiz picked up the small dolphin and checked her over, making certain she was healthy.

He put the baby back in the tank with one last soft caress on its back and Soraya loved how gentle he was.

“She seems as healthy as she can be. She is a little malnourished, but young dolphins tend to nurse quite often, so we need to make sure she gets all the milk she needs. Other than that, she is good.”

Soraya let out a breath, “Good. I was worried for her.”
