He pulled the towel free from around her and dropped his to the floor.

He claimed her in his bed, again and again that night, until they were both sated, and fell asleep in each other’s arms.

When they woke, Cruiz helped her dress in a shirt and some shorts and then did the same.

Then he pulled her down to the beach, it was still early, and the sun hadn’t quite come up.

Fin had walked them down and would hold their clothes and make sure no one saw them as they went and with a hug and a kiss to his cheek, Soraya stripped off the shirt and stepped into the water.

She had put her shells back on before they left which made him sigh in relief.

When she surfaced, she turned to look at them and they were staring at her and she smiled at them and gestured at him.

He stripped off his shorts and Fin chuckled, and Cruiz walked into the water and dove.

He surfaced beside her and he felt her tail brush his.

“Come on love.”

They waved at Fin and she held his hand as they went under, swimming together and he was still shocked that he could breathe, and that they could have a normal conversation.

As they swam, Soraya pointed out all the different places she had explored as a child and he loved seeing her past laid bare before him.

As they got closer to her tribe, he could feel her excitement build.

She was swimming faster and he began to see signs of life down here.

There were caves that very clearly looked like houses.

Some had flowers growing on the outside like houses up where he grew up.

Soon, mermaids started peeking out of their houses and he heard several voices yell out their excitement.

Soraya was smiling so big, it made him smile and soon, a couple was swimming their way.

The woman looked exactly like Soraya, down to the hair, tail and everything.

Soraya dropped his hand and swam straight into the woman's arms.

“Mother. I have missed you.”

The woman cupped Soraya’s cheeks, “Sweet darling. I have missed you too my little gem.”

He grinned when he heard that. The nickname he had given her even more dear.

“Mother, this is Cruiz. My mate.”

Her mother looked at her with smiling eyes. “Your mate? Oh my sweet gem. I knew something happened while you left. I could feel your magic.”

Soraya smiled, “I did. This is Cruiz. He helped me learn to control my song.”

Soraya’s mother hugged her and then she swam up to him, hugging him as well. Cruiz hugged her back and Soraya’s mother cupped his cheek with one hand, “Cruiz. You have a good heart and a strong soul.”

He smiled, “Thank you.”

Her mother smiled, “I am Marit, this is my mate Destan. We would love to be the first to welcome you to the tribe.”

“Thank you Marit. I’m so in love with Soraya. She is so beautiful and wonderful.”
