He walked forward and made it to the structure. He opened the door, walked inside and put her down on a soft seat.

She sank back into it, and he shut the door.

He walked back over to her and with a flick of his hand, the room was illuminated, much like their caves were at night with the glowing plankton they used.

It was much brighter than that though and she blinked at the brightness of it.

He did too and sat down on the floor, hard as if his strength had left him.

She reached out to him, not liking that and she heard someone walking toward them.

“Cruiz?” A new, deep voice said, as if not sure and he looked up, “Yeah Fin. It’s me.”

Another man walked into the room, looking much the same as the man in front of her.

Except the new man had lighter eyes than Cruiz did.

The other man hurried over to them, “Thank God. You radioed about the storm getting really bad and knocking the boat all around, and that you didn’t think it would make it back and then it cut off. I was freaking out man. Getting ready to call the fucking Coast Guard or the damn Navy, freaking out.”

Cruiz nodded, “I know. It was terrifying. The boat capsized and broke into a million pieces, and something found me out there. I don’t know what it was, or how I was saved. I was out cold for most of it and couldn’t tell you. When I came to, this girl was on the beach beside me and said she found me.”

Fin looked over at her and his eyes went wide. She gave him a small smile, “Hello.”

His eyes went even more wide, and he looked back at Cruiz, “Dude what the fuck did you say? The boat really capsized? Seriously? You could have died! What in the hell?”

Cruiz stood slowly, his body swaying again, and Fin saw the blood running down his face, “I know. It was close. Like really close. I've never seen waves that big in my entire life. When the last wave came, I didn’t even see it until it was too late and I had to dive into the water or I would have been killed. The ship broke apart, and some of it hit me. I could have sworn I felt someone find me, and that they blew air into my lungs man. Then we were at the surface and I was out of it again. I couldn’t tell you how I survived, but I’m grateful I did.”

Fin reached out and hugged Cruiz, “Well, I’m grateful too. I could have lost my brother today. And mom would have killed me.”

Cruiz gave a small laugh, “Yes, she would have. Well, to be fair, she would have found me wherever I was, kicked my ass and then killed me again.”

Fin shook his head, “Come on, let’s get that cut sewn up.”

Cruiz took a few steps and turned, “Wait, can you bring the girl? I don’t want to leave her here alone. She found me, and possibly knows who saved my life.”

Fin nodded and walked to where she was sitting, and grabbed her hands to help her stand.

Her legs buckled and Fin had to catch her. “I apologize, I don’t know how to walk that well yet.”

Fin gave her the weirdest look that she couldn’t interpret and Cruiz stepped up, scooping her into his arms again.

“Never mind, I got it.”

Fin snorted and Cruiz carried her into a room that had a strong smell and she wrinkled her nose at it.

Cruiz gave a small laugh and put her on another soft surface.

She watched as he sat on the same kind of surface she was sitting on and Fin walked up to him and pulled something on his hands.

She sat mesmerized as Fin used something shiny and some long black string to sew up Cruiz’s cut on his eye.

When Fin finished, Cruiz thanked his brother and he turned, letting her see his chest fully in the light. And there, right on the left side of his chest, on one of his pecs was a small trident shaped mark.

It was so faint that it blended into his skin pretty well, but she was shocked.

When she met his eyes again, and she knew deep in her heart that he was hers.
