Her words were so quiet and he smiled, “I did. I wanted to see if you would go to dinner with me.”
She looked over at him and her eyes went wide, as if that was the last thing she expected him to say.
She bit her lip again, and looked around. “Uh. I don’t know. I’m not sure.”
He held out his hand to her, “Hey, I’m not expecting anything and I don’t want to push. I just wanted to talk to you and meet you and let you know I’m not going away even if you turn me down.”
She looked up at him, her blue eyes wary. “This is really new for me.”
He smiled, “It’s new to me too. I didn’t expect you when I came to the game today.”
She looked down again and he fought to keep from lifting her chin to give him her eyes again.
“My name is Soren. Soren Chambers. I’m a lawyer. I’m twenty six and I’m a massive fan of the Alphas. I work for their team lawyer and have been a fan since the team was founded. I have a little sister, who is dating one of the players. Her name is Shelley. And from the second I saw you on that field, I knew you were the woman for me.”
Her eyes flew up to his face and he could tell he shocked her again.
“Now comes the part where you tell me about you.”
She searched his face with her eyes and then nodded, “I’m Eva Hall. I’m nineteen, and I am the newest cheerleader for the Alphas. I work at a dance studio in my spare time and dance is my life.”
He grinned, and held out his hand, which she took. He shook her hand briefly and then raised it to his lips and kissed the back of it, breathing her scent in.
“It’s nice to meet you Eva.”
She nodded, letting out a breathy sigh, “You too Soren.”
Hearing his name on her lips sealed it for him. She was never getting away now.
