Eva
When she got to the stadium for the first time she was going to cheer, she was so nervous she wanted to throw up.
She took a minute to sit in her car and breathe and when she walked into the stadium, Jennifer was there to walk her into the locker room.
She showed Eva her locker and the outfit she would be wearing for today.
They had a few that they would wear throughout the season and Jennifer told her each one and when she should wear it.
They also signed her final paperwork and she was officially part of the team.
She got changed into her first outfit and sent a selfie picture to Brooke and the other staff she still kept in contact with.
They were all here today to support her. She loved them all.
A few of the girls came over to help her do her hair and put on makeup and by the time it was time, she was a bundle of nerves and knew she needed a second to breathe.
A hand landed on her back softly, “Hey, don’t stress. You are the best dancer we have. I know you are going to rock it. And I’m right here with you. Okay? I know the nerves you get the first time you dance. But trust me, once you get into the groove, it’s fun.”
Eva smiled at April, “Thanks. I danced all the time on stage, but this is so much more than that.”
April laughed, “You got that right. But seriously. Don’t stress. We are all here and we got this. Okay?”
Eva nodded and they walked out of the locker room together.
Jennifer was there, “You ready?”
Everyone nodded and they went through the chant they did before they went out to every game.
Eva had learned it in practice and was glad she had.
By the time they were done, her nerves were still there, but not as prominent as before.
She could do this.
As they ran out onto the field, she felt her nerves slip away and she grinned as she felt the excitement overtake her body instead.
And as they got into their positions for their first routine, she felt eyes on her.
She looked all around and locked eyes with the most gorgeous man she had ever seen in her life.
He had thick, black hair that was sticking up on top slightly and was cut shorter on the sides.
He had a small cowlick in the front that caused a lock of his hair to touch his forehead and she wanted to push it off with her fingers so badly, her fingers itched.
She didn’t know what color of eyes he had, but he watched her so intensely, that she lost her footing and stumbled a bit and then righted herself.
She had to get it together.
Looking away from him, she was determined to not look his way again.
He was just a fan. They could look all they wanted.
But as the night wore on, she could feel his eyes on her. He never took them from her, not once.
And she didn’t know how she felt about that. Jennifer warned her that men all over would be interested, and that they didn’t really have a policy to stop them from dating the men who came to the games, but that she had to be careful.
That they often had men who didn’t have good intentions.
