The waiter started to say something when a man at another table spoke up, “Yeah. She freaking rocks. Did you see her tonight? Holy shit. That girl can run. Don’t disrespect Sasha here.”
The other men that were at the same table nodded, “Yeah! The Alphas are the best team in the league.”
The waiter started to say something else, but Soren held up his hand, “I wouldn’t. We are all riding the high of that win tonight. I wouldn’t mess with anyone here.”
She smiled and the man nodded, “I apologize. What can I get you?”
Soren sat back down, but he sat down beside her this time and put his arm around her on the back of the bench.
He told the waiter his order and then looked down at her, “And my girl, well she can tell you herself.”
Eva smiled, and told the waiter what she wanted and the guy left.
The other table of guys looked over at them and saw her shirt.
“Where did you get a shirt like that? I want one.”
She laughed, “You have to be part of the cheer squad. Sorry.”
His jaw dropped, “No fucking way.”
She nodded and Soren pulled her in closer to him, “Way. As of today, I am the Alphas newest cheerleader.”
The men all looked at her and then at Soren, “Lucky bastard.”
Soren kissed her head, “Yep. The luckiest.”
She smiled at them and then looked up at him, “You know, in all the dates I have seen they sit on opposite sides.”
He looked down at her with narrowed eyes, “What dates?”
She laughed, “The ones in the movies I have seen.”
He relaxed a little, “Well, you were too far away.”
She smiled and leaned into his side, “This is crazy.”
He shook his head, “Nope. This is fate. Destiny. The universe bringing us together. Take your pick.”
“You believe in all that?”
He nodded, “Absolutely. My sister started dating Blake, who got us the tickets we had and the first game you dance at is this one? Where I have a front row seat? It’s totally fated. You are mine. I just have to bring you up to speed.”
She bit her lip, “You are starting to. I can’t believe how you defended Sasha. You don’t know her. But you have so much faith in her.”
He shrugged, “She is the hardest working player on the field. She is dominating in an all male driven field and she kicks ass and takes names. If he can’t see that, then that’s on him.”
She smiled, “I like it.”
He kissed her head again, “Besides, my sister says she is the nicest girl there is. And I believe that. So yes, I don’t need someone to disrespect someone because they don’t understand.”
She sat next to him, “Well, I like it. You are so passionate about the team.”
He laughed, “I have been their fan for a really long time. I know about each one and how hard they work. I know that the man I work for knows each of the members and tells me how great they are. And I know that I wouldn’t have let my sister date one of them if he wasn’t the best. No way, no how. So yes. I will stand up for them and defend them to anyone out there.”
She loved that. When their food got there, they ate and talked and laughed and she couldn’t believe how much fun she had.
Soren was the sweetest man and always made sure her drink was filled and that she had enough to eat.
