Soren
When he watched Eva drive off, it hurt. Deep in his chest.
He hated it. She was his life and he worried that something could happen to her.
He just had to have faith that she would be okay. No matter what.
He didn’t like that she questioned him, but he understood that not everyone would trust his word.
That she must have had issues in her life.
And he hoped and prayed that she would realize the truth soon.
When he pulled up to his office, he found it hard to walk inside.
He loved his job but all he wanted to do was be with Eva.
His phone rang, and he answered, “Hey Shelley. I can’t talk for long. About to go into work.”
“I wanted to see where you disappeared last night. I was with Blake, so I didn’t get to see you. I thought you wanted to come hang out with some of the players? Dad loved it.”
Soren chuckled, “I would have, but I found my girl. Didn’t you hear me say that?”
Shelley laughed, “I did. I just wanted to confirm it. I can’t believe you actually went after a girl. You have never done that.”
He snorted, “None of them were her. Of course I didn’t go after any of them.”
She let out an, “Aww,” sound. And he laughed again.
“I have to go. But maybe I can convince her to meet you later.”
She laughed, “You better.”
He hung up the phone and walked inside, going to his office and sitting down.
He uploaded the pictures that he took of Eva last night and printed one out and put it beside his computer monitor.
He opened the files he was supposed to work on today when a knock sounded on the door.
“Come in.”
The door opened to reveal Warren.
Soren stood, “Warren. What can I do for you today?”
Warren waved a hand at him, “Take a seat. I wanted to talk to you.”
Soren sat back down slowly and Warren sat down in one of the chairs in front of his desk.
“I have been watching you over the last little while.”
Soren raised an eyebrow, but stayed silent and Warren went on, “You see, I have been struggling with the workload that I have with the Alphas. It seems like the owner of the fucking stadium gets himself in more situations than normal and I have been busting my ass to keep him from landing in jail. Even though I should. The fucker would deserve it.”
Both of Soren’s eyebrows raised, never in his career had he heard Warren raise his voice or swear.
“What can I do then?”
Warren smiled, “I knew you were the right man for the job. I need you to help me monitor the players. Make sure they are doing what they are supposed to as part of their contract. You need to talk to everyone and see how they like it. This will help me a lot to be able to focus on Dan. He needs me more than they do. Plus, I know you are a huge fan of the team.”
