“We should take care of that.”

He coughed and shook his head, “Not with your brother in the next room baby.”

“Are you sure baby”

He coughed again and pressed his hand against his jeans.

“I’m sure, baby. Be good.”

She smiled, “Fine. But just this time.”

She winked at him when he let out a small groan and then Harrison poked his head in the living room.

“Do you guys want French toast?”

Jet looked at his phone and shook his head, “I have to go baby. I have to check out some stuff at the office.”

She nodded, “Please be safe. I don’t want you to get hurt when you drive.”

He kissed her and put his forehead to hers, “I will be fine. I promise.”

Then he kissed her once more and after putting on his coat, he walked out the door. She watched him leave and then walked into the kitchen. Harrison was standing beside the counter, leaning against it.

“Are you okay?”

She shrugged, “I guess. It just sucks. I barely have spent any time with him. I want more.”

Harrison chuckled, “I get it. Okay, I don’t, but I hope I will soon.”

His phone chimed and he looked down at it, and then his eyebrows raised, and he let out a long-suffering sigh.

“Fuck. I do not need this right now.”

She lifted one eyebrow and Harrison looked over at her and shook his head slowly.

“Do you remember Ted Tonner?”

She nodded, “Yes? I haven’t heard that name for a while though. What’s wrong?”

Harrison sighed, “Apparently, he is in town. He wants to meet up. I haven’t seen him since high school, but man, that guy gave off some weird vibes.”

Farren leaned forward, “What do you mean?”

Harrison shrugged, “You know how badly he was bullied. Do you remember how all the kids called him One ton Ted? Because he was heavier and didn’t really take care of himself? He was so strange. And I was the only one, besides you and Stetson that was nice to him?”

She nodded, “Yeah. I remember. Everyone was so rude to him because he was a little different. But he was a nice kid. Kind of quiet around most people. But he was always nice to me. I would talk to him sometimes in the library. He read a lot of weird books, but I didn’t think anything of it. He asked me out a few times, but I always turned him down. I didn’t feel that way about him.”

Harrison nodded, “I know. He had a huge crush on you. Like not just a crush though.”

Farren chuckled, “I figured that out from when he asked me out a bunch of times.”

Harrison held up his hand, “I know. I wasn’t happy that he asked you out, but it was mainly because I always got a weird feeling around him when it came to you. Like he was obsessed with you or something. It was crazy. He always acted like he owned you and no one else could come near you. He would stare at you anytime he came around and I caught him taking pictures of you once. But I have a feeling he did that more than once. I never asked for his phone, but I can guarantee he had a file on you. About you. I finally told him you were off limits and if he tried anything, Stetson and I would kick his ass.”

Farren felt her eyebrows raise, “I knew you scared people away, but I’m sure Ted was harmless. I mean, yes, the picture thing is creepy, and I don’t really like that. I didn’t know that small detail, but he wasn’t obsessed with me. Not like you think. He couldn’t have been. If he was that obsessed with me, he would have tried something in school. We were alone in the library a lot and he let it go after he asked me out and I finally put my foot down and refused him. He didn’t hurt me then and for the love of Pete, I haven’t even seen him since we graduated. If I don’t get a weird vibe from him, maybe you shouldn’t either?”

Harrison shook his head, “I get it. He hasn’t been around, so I put him out of my head. But, it’s not just that. I don’t know. He never fixated on anyone like you. I had Hudson watch him after I graduated, and Hudson and Stetson said the same thing. He didn’t look at other girls. Just you. It could be that you were the first girl that was nice to him, but I think it was more than that. Stetson saw some weird things too. He got the same vibes that I did. He told me that Ted followed you home on more than one occasion and you didn’t know, and he seemed off. Stetson said he seemed sinister or something with the walk thing. He called out Ted’s name and Ted ran off, but Stetson said it freaked him out and he didn’t let you walk home by yourself after that.”

He waved his hand in frustration, “But whatever happened then, it doesn’t add up to now. I don’t get it. He hasn’t talked to me since high school and now all of a sudden, he is saying he is in town and wants to meet up? I know his family lives here and he has never once asked to meet up in all this time, and now he does? Really? It’s literally only after you started seeing Jet that he has reached out. I don’t like it.”
