She cried out and Ted sneered, “Good. Stop it.”

Then he pulled out a syringe and she tried to stop his hands again, but he stabbed it in her arm and depressed it. She felt the medicine take over and though she fought against it, her eyes shut and she sagged against the door. Blackness overtaking her completely.

Chapter Nine

~ Jet ~

Sitting at his desk, going through the paperwork from the last few weeks was rough. He wanted to be with Farren and yet, he knew he had to get this done so he could have some time with her. Just the two of them. So he kept his head down and finished up the paperwork. Farren had told him she was going to the mall with her friend Rowen anyway. So Jet didn’t try to hurry through the paperwork. He had to have something to focus on.

When his phone chimed and she sent him a text telling him how much she loved him, he couldn’t help but smile. He finished up what he had to and turned on his computer. He wanted to code a little before going to see his girl and when Scout walked into his office, Jet looked up and grinned.

“You actually came to work. I’m shocked.”

Jet rolled his eyes, “My girl was more important. And besides, the snow was awful yesterday.”

Scout chuckled, “Sure. I’m sure that was all it was. I wouldn’t want to come to work anyway if I had a girl like Farren.”

Jet let out a growl and Scout held his hands up, “A girl like her. Not her. Geez. Calm down.”

Jet sighed and he sat back, “She is amazing, Scout. I don’t know what I did in my life to get a girl as amazing as she is.”

Scout crossed his arms, “You are lucky. Don’t take it for granted.”

Jet nodded, “I won’t. How is your dad? Is he still pressing you to meet that girl and get married?”

Scout shook his head, annoyance crossing his features. “Yes. He wants me to meet my soon to be step-mom and step-sister. Though that’s the last thing I want. I have seen my step-monster. She eats men like my father for breakfast and thinks I would be dessert. I am okay to stay as far away from her and her daughter as possible.”

Jet’s eyes widened, “I’m sorry. That sucks man.”

Scout shrugged, “It’s life. I can’t change it. So I won’t even try.”

Jet nodded, “I got an earful from Harrison. He thinks I am just using Farren.”

Scout’s eyebrows lifted, “Are you fucking serious? I want to kick his ass.”

Jet chuckled, “I have it handled. Farren is fierce and wouldn’t dare let Harrison bully her.”

Scout blew out a breath, “You are lucky there too.”

Jet nodded, “I am.”

His phone rang and he looked at the screen and saw Harrison’s name on it. “Speak of the devil.”

He touched the phone to answer it, “Harrison. What can I do for you?”

“Jet. We have a fucking massive problem man.”

Jet put the phone on his desk and put it on speaker, “What is wrong?”

“Farren and her friend Rowen were in a car accident.”

Jet felt the blood drain from his face and if he wasn’t sitting, he would be on the ground, “Where is she? What hospital?”

He grabbed his keys and stood, and Scout was right there with him.

“That’s the problem. She isn’t at the hospital.”

“You better talk faster Harrison. Where is Farren?”
