“Someone took her. Rowen called me using Farren’s phone. She was stuck in the car and her phone was busted. Apparently, they got hit from behind and the car rolled and someone came and took Farren from the wreck. Rowen couldn’t get free but called me and I called the cops. I’m on my way to the accident now. I will find her if it’s the last thing I do.”

Jet looked at Scout, “We will help. Where did the accident happen?”

Harrison gave him the directions and Scout jumped in the driver's seat of his truck.

They were speeding down the road seconds later and when they pulled up to the wreck, the firemen were trying to free a woman trapped in the overturned car.

She was yelling at them, “You need to find Farren. I will be fine. But she was taken! Someone needs to find her!”

One of the firemen held up his hand, “Miss, our priority is you right now. Be still so I can get you free. We will do all we can to find your friend. The cops know. And they are combing the roads for her.”

The woman went still, and Jet watched as they cut the seat belt and pulled her from the car and put her on a gurney. She had a neck brace on and her face was covered in blood. Scout gasped softly beside him and Jet watched as he hurried to the woman’s side. Her eyes went wide and then she seemed to relax as Scout made it to her.

He grabbed her hand and she shut her eyes and then opened them, “Who are you?” She asked quietly and Scout said, “I’m yours.”

She smiled and Jet walked up beside her, “Who took Farren? Did you see them?”

She shook her head, “Just his boots. He had on huge black boots. And his legs were large. But he wore a scarf over his face and a hat on his head. But he was the one who hit us.”

Jet cursed and Scout nudged him, “Not in front of my girl.”

Jet nodded, “Sorry. You are Rowen, right?”

She nodded as much as she was able, and the firemen pushed him and Scout out of the way and Rowen cried out when Scout’s hand was pulled from hers.

“We need to get her to the hospital. She is freezing cold and has a lot of injuries we need to assess. You can follow along if you like, but right now she needs to get going.”

Scout tried to bully his way onto the ambulance, but the EMTs weren’t having it.

They shut the doors in Scout’s face and Jet pulled his friend back, “Come on. We need to see what we can find.”

Harrison’s truck pulled up and he jumped out, “Did they take Rowen?”

Jet nodded, and Harrison cursed, “Did you find out anything?”

Jet told Harrison everything that Rowen told him and Harrison cursed again.

“I don’t know who would have her. Why would someone take an injured woman from a crash scene and leave the other? It makes no sense. Who would do something like that?”

Harrison shook his head, “They didn’t call the police. Just left Rowen alone.”

Scout let out a deadly growl, “We are going to find out who hurt my girl. And I am going to kill him.”

Jet nodded, “I agree. He took my woman. Nothing can stop me from killing him also.”

Harrison went still, “Wait. Wait.”

Jet looked at him, “What?”

Harrison turned to him, “You said how could someone leave an injured woman here and take the other.”

Harrison paced back and forth for a second, muttering loud enough for Jet to hear. “I mean who would leave a woman to die? Why would they take one woman, but not both?”

Then he went still, “Did Rowen say the man was larger? Like a big guy?”

Jet nodded, and Harrison’s face went pale, “Fuck. I think I know who has Farren.”

He pulled out his phone and pressed a few buttons and then he turned on the speaker phone. The number Harrison called went to voicemail immediately and he texted out a message.
