Driving with his crew to where his phone was leading them, was something that he would have missed had it been under different circumstances. He felt his leg twitching and he knew it was wiggling in his seat.

He wanted to get to his girl right now. He hated that she was hurt because of the man who took her, and she could be in pain or making her injuries worse because of his negligence. Jet held back a growl and he coughed to cover it up.

Scout turned his head, “We are hurrying.”

Jet nodded, “I know. I just want to kill the bastard. That’s all. He hurt the woman I love and took her. She could be injured worse because of what he did.”

Harrison growled, “Fucking hell. I didn’t think about that.”

Jet nodded and he looked at Steele, who had his fists clenched. “I let the police know what happened and who took her. They are going to meet us there. But I told them to come without sirens. I don’t want them to alert the man. If he moves her again, we could lose him. I just hope he didn’t dump his phone.”

Jet went still and shut his eyes, for half a second, then opened them. “What if he did? What if we never find her?”

Steele shook his head, “I didn’t mean it like that. I just want to be prepared for any reality Jet.”

Jet sat back and he looked at his phone, “We are almost there.”

Everyone sat in silence as they pulled up to a long driveway that hadn’t been driven on in the last few hours. But it had some tire tracks that were being quickly covered by the snow. Scout turned the lights off in the car and Jet pulled his gun from his holster and held it down by his leg. As soon as the car was stopped, he and Steele got out, and left the doors slightly ajar. Scout and Crew did the same on the other side.

A cop cruiser pulled in behind them and the cop got out and nodded at them, and Steele spoke quietly to him, “We are going to search the outside of the house first to be certain this is the place we are looking for. The man inside is dangerous and if he stole an injured woman from an accident, he obviously isn’t in the right frame of mind.”

The cop nodded, and said, “What do you need me to do?”

Steele looked at him, “You can stay right by our sides. But my team and I are retired SEALs. We did missions that were worse than this while we were in the Navy.”

The cop nodded, “I was in the Marines. I will do whatever you need. I have already called it in and my supervisor is aware of what is happening.”

Steele nodded and signaled to the team, “Spread out. We need to confirm if the suspect is here. Harrison has already given us a description of the man and the hostage. We think he is here, but if the house is empty, we need to spread out our search and see if they are around here.”

Everyone nodded and Steele looked at Harrison, “I know you want to come along, but I can’t worry about your safety. You are a civilian in my eyes and we don’t know what to expect in there. I need you to stay put and when it is clear, you may follow.”

Harrison looked like he wanted to protest, but the cop’s partner, a young woman in her crisp uniform said, “I will keep him safe.”

Harrison looked down at her as if seeing her for the first time and blinked. Jet wanted to grin, but the worry he had for Farren overrode any other emotion he was feeling.

Steele nodded at the girl and then they got in position.

“You are not to shoot the man if we find him. He needs to be detained and questioned.”

Everyone nodded again and Steele signaled to the men, and they all melted into the shadows and surrounded the outside of the house.

Jet moved around back and saw that there was a light shining through one of the windows. He moved slowly forward, keeping to the shadows of the house and looking in the window. There was a man pacing back and forth in the room. He was muttering to himself and throwing his hands up in the air and then running them over his face and hair.

He was getting more disheveled the longer he paced, and Jet noticed that the man’s jeans had a few dark spots on them. He held back a growl and moved toward the back door. He needed to get in that house and needed to do it now. He moved to the next window and looked inside.

It was dark in the room, but he was able to see a bed and nothing else. There was a small figure on the bed, and it was unmoving. The leg was wrapped in white bandages, but that was it.

And as he looked closer, he saw it was a woman.

His woman. Farren was asleep on the bed, but her face was pinched as if she was in pain. Her face was covered in dried blood, and she had a cut above her eye. One side of her face was red and looked like she had been struck. Jet let out a soft curse and felt Scout come up behind him.

“Fuck. She is in bad shape. Come on.”

Jet nodded and looked at the window. It was old and seemed easy enough to pry open. He had to get Farren out of there. She needed to get to the hospital. The window had a small bit of mortar in the edges still and Jet pulled his knife out and used it to cut the mortar out. Soon enough, he was able to pop the window free and with a small boost from Scout, he was able to climb into the window and drop inside. He landed in a crouch and held still. He knew he made a small noise, but he hoped that the man in the other room didn’t hear him.

He stood and reached through the window to help Scout inside and the cop looked through the window and let out a curse.
