Jet squeezed his eyes shut, “If I wasn’t so worried about Farren, then I would have let the fight draw out longer. Get some good hits in. Because it felt good when I did. But she needed me more. And he will get his justice. I know it. Too many witnesses saw what he did and I will fight to my dying day to make sure he doesn’t see the light of a free day again.”

Steele clapped him on the shoulder, - his good one- and Scout jumped in the truck with Crew.

“Let’s get the fuck out of here.”

Everyone was content with this and even though they had to practically drag Harrison away from the female cop, he got in the truck and they drove away.

When they made it to the hospital, Jet asked around about Farren and they wouldn’t tell him anything, but they would tell Harrison.

“She is in surgery right now. She has a severely broken leg that needs correction, a broken rib that punctured her lung and her wrist is also broken. But it was easy to cast and fix. She was bleeding from her head wound and we are grateful she didn’t have a concussion, but she will be monitored anyway. And the bruising on her face will subside with time. Right now, we need to focus on her leg and fix the bone there. It was close to becoming a compound fracture. And the man that jostled her so much was the cause. If her bone had broken through the skin, she would have died in hours. If not minutes.”

Jet felt the blood drain from his face, and he had to use the wall to keep himself upright. Harrison thanked the doctor and then scrubbed a hand over his face.

“God damn. Jet, if you hadn’t found her when you did, she could have died.”

Jet didn’t acknowledge him but stayed silent.

Harrison sighed, “Come on. I need to call my parents and my brothers.”

Jet just nodded and stayed put, trying to stay strong for Farren, but failing.

He just found her. They had only had a taste of their happily ever after and now it seemed like they were losing it. He had to stay strong. She would survive. Even if it seemed impossible that she would. He took a deep breath and stood upright and walked to the waiting room. What he wasn’t expecting was to see everyone there.

Scout. Steele and Rickie. Crew and Joslyn. Gunner and Arielle. Raiden and Kadence. All the men from Raiden’s crew and Miles from Gunner’s office. There were a few men that Jet recognized as Harrison and Farren’s brothers and their parents. And the most surprising of all was his own parents and Aria. Along with Bo.

His mom walked up to him and cupped his face, “Are you all right?”

He shook his head and his mother’s face filled with so much emotion and love that Jet had to fight to keep the tears at bay.

“She will get through this. She is tough. I know she will fight.”

Jet coughed once, “I hope so. Seeing her so injured in that bed and knowing that he had taken her after he was the one to cause her injuries makes me so angry. But I told Steele it wasn’t about him. It was about getting her to safety. Even if he had escaped, I wouldn’t have cared. She was my only priority.”

His mom nodded, “I understand that. She is yours. Now you need to let the doctors do their thing. She will pull through. Come on. You look like you are going to collapse.”

Jet felt like it. He was fighting to stay standing upright.

His mom led him to some chairs, and he sat down, feeling his entire body unwind. Aria walked over to her, sitting down in his lap and Jet wrapped his arms around her. He let out a small hiss of pain but ignored it.

His mom lifted her eyebrow, “What happened? Just now. You are in pain, aren’t you?”

Jet shook his head, “I’m fine. I’m still running on adrenaline.”

His mom raised her eyebrow higher, and his dad chuckled, “You need to see a doctor Jet. If you reinjured your shoulder, you will put your recovery behind. You have to just check.”

Jet sighed, and Aria got off his lap and touched his face, “Check your shoulder. I don’t want you to be hurt.”

Jet kissed her cheek and then walked over to where a nurse stood.

“Is there someone I can talk to that can check my shoulder?”

She blinked wide eyes at him and then nodded, “I can find you someone. Follow me.”

He did as she asked and soon, he was sitting on a hospital bed and a doctor was looking at his shoulder. The doctor checking him over lifted his arm and Jet held back a wince. The doctor shook his head, and after reading his chart, he shook his head again.

“It says here you are supposed to still be in a sling?”
