He shook his head, “Do you not remember what happened tonight?”
She slowly shook her head, “I remember being at the mall with Rowen and then getting in the car, but after that it’s a blank. My body is so sore.”
He let out a soft breath, “I don’t know what I should tell you. I want to shield you from it.”
She shook her head again, “Tell me. Please?”
He told her about the crash and how Ted was the one to cause it and how he stole her and kept her in his house, tied up to a bed and making her injuries worse. The little color she had in her face fled and he hated that he had caused it.
“I remember that now. He left Rowen in that car. Is she okay? Did someone find her?”
He nodded, “She is here. She found your phone and called for help and Harrison.”
Farren shut her eyes in relief and then opened them, “Thank god. I was so scared she was going to die.”
Jet picked up her hand and kissed it, “She is fine. Scout is watching over her.”
Farren smiled, “I like that. Scout is a good guy.”
Jet nodded, “The best.”
She looked over at him, “How did you find me?”
Jet bit his lip, “Harrison had Ted’s number and his phone went straight to voicemail, but I was able to hack into it and find his location. You were in his house and tied to a bed. I wanted to kill him, but I didn’t.”
She smiled softly at him, “I’m proud of you. He will get justice. He hurt two innocent women.”
Jet nodded and kissed her hand again. She shut her eyes again and he ran his thumb gently along her soft skin.
“I love you Farren. So much. I don’t know what I would do without you.”
She blinked her eyes open and smiled at him, lifting her hand to cup his face. He turned his face to kiss her palm.
“I love you too. You don’t have to live without me. I’m all yours. I was so scared I would never see you again. I can’t live without you either.”
“Marry me. When you get well, marry me. Be mine. Forever.”
She smiled and nodded, “I want that. To be your wife. To be yours forever.”
He leaned forward and kissed her again. And she sighed in content and shut her eyes.
“Don’t leave.”
He shook his head, “Never. I’m never leaving your side again.”
She smiled softly again. “Good.”
Then she was asleep and he kissed her hand again. She said yes.
It wasn’t the proposal he originally planned, but it was even more perfect. She was going to be his. For the rest of their lives.
He was the lucky bastard who she chose to be at her side. He looked up at the ceiling and thanked his lucky stars for everything he had been given.
Chapter Thirteen
~ Farren~
After a week in the hospital, she was able to leave, and Jet stayed by her side like he promised. He had taken her to see Rowen once and Rowen was doing better. She didn’t have as bad of injuries as they had feared, and Farren was grateful. Jet would talk with Scout quietly while Farren asked if Rowen’s mom had heard of her accident and Rowen shook her head.
