He hoped it would take root. That she would be carrying their child soon. When he came down from his high, he cupped her face and kissed her Then he lifted her into his arms again and brought them to the shower and covered her leg with a bag and helped her get clean. Then he put another of his shirts on her and made her breakfast.
He knew that she needed to move around more. To get her leg mobile.
And he would do just that.
He would do anything for her.
Chapter Fifteen
~ Farren ~
After another week at Jet’s house, she was cleared to go back to work. Her rib was healed enough that she didn’t have issues breathing and if she was careful with her crutches or used a scooter, she was allowed to be out and about.
On her first day back, Jet drove her to school and kissed her. “Call me the second you are done. And I will be right here.”
She smiled at him, “I will. Go to work.”
He kissed her again and waited until she walked inside before he drove off. Farren knew how lucky she was. And as she made her way to her classroom, the other teachers and the principal were there to greet her.
Ashley hugged her, “Welcome back. We are so thrilled to have you back again. Your kids have missed you.”
Farren smiled, “I missed them too. How is Rowen? Did she come back yet? I haven’t seen her since the hospital.”
Ashley nodded, “She came back last week. She is doing very well.”
Farren smiled and went to her classroom and Rowen was there, looking perfect as always. Her hair was a little shorter, but she didn’t look worse for wear.
When Rowen heard the door open, she looked over and she grinned so wide, it made Farren grin too.
“I have missed you so much!” Rowen cried as she hurried to Farren’s side.
“I missed you too. How are you? I didn’t get a chance to see you in the hospital. I wasn’t allowed.”
Rowen shook her head, “I know. I wanted to see you too, but I couldn’t get out of bed. Scout kept me informed of your condition though.”
Farren chuckled, “Oh really? Jet said something about that. Are you guys together?”
Rowen bit her lip, “Yes. He is so wonderful. So protective of me. I love him so much. And it’s only been a few weeks.”
Farren laughed louder, “I understand completely. They do that, don't they? Make it so easy for us to love them quickly.”
Rowen nodded, “He was there for me when I didn’t have anyone.”
Farren’s face dropped, “Oh Rowen. I’m so sorry. I should have tried to see you more.”
Rowen held out her hand, “You had worse injuries than I had. You couldn’t do anything. And I get it. I actually loved that Scout was the one really there for me. He took such good care of me and I don’t know where I would be without him.”
Farren hugged Rowen. “Good. I didn’t want you to think I abandoned you. I thought about you a lot. You were in this mess because of me.”
Rowen shook her head, “It wasn’t your fault. If I hadn’t been with you, they wouldn’t have found the guy in time. I’m glad I was there. I got to meet Scout and find the man I am meant to be with.”
Farren nodded, “Okay. If you say so.”
Rowen laughed, “I do. I mean it. They were lucky to find you when they did. If I hadn’t been there, who knows what could have happened? I only had a few cuts and bruises. And my worst injury was a concussion. I was fine after I got released from the hospital. I was only there for a night. That’s it.”
Farren let out a sigh of relief, “Thank heavens. I was worried that you broke your neck.”
Rowen shook her head, “Good as new. I did have a few stitches in my head because some of the glass cut me, and I will have a few scars, but I am fine.”
