Gwen smiled, “Okay. Then that’s our goal.”

Scout hugged her and then Jet said, “Is Aria here?”

His mom grinned, “She has been waiting for you to wake up.”

Jet laughed, “Well tell dad to bring her in. Is Bo here too?”

Gwen shook her head, “He was for a while, but he had to go to work.”

“I understand. Well, have dad bring Aria. I’m sure she has been worried.”

His mom laughed, “That’s an understatement.”

Scout chuckled and his mom kissed his cheek and then stepped out of the room. Within minutes the door was opening, and Aria and his dad walked in, with Aria in his dad’s arms.

Jet grinned, “Hey there squirt.”

His mom handed Aria her crutches and she walked over to him, and Jet sat up in his bed carefully and hugged his little sister.

“Jet! You got hurt! Mom said a bad man hurt you. It scared me.”

Aria’s arms tightened around him as much as he could, and finally he sat back, and Scout lifted Aria to sit on the bed beside him. She held onto his hand tightly and Jet lifted it to his lips and kissed it.

“I did get hurt by a bad man, but I’m okay. The hospital staff took really good care of me. I will get to leave soon.”

Her face grew serious. “Good. I didn’t like that. You won’t get hurt again, will you?”

Jet shook his head, “I won’t. I usually don’t have any issues, but this was an exception. One that won’t happen again.”

She nodded, “Are you going to come home? Mom and dad are staying in a hotel. It has a pool. It’s fun. Dad has let me swim.”

Jet laughed, “I will be going back to my house squirt. But I’m sure mom and dad will come with me to my house for a bit. Do you want to visit for a little while? I don’t have a pool, but I do have a hot tub.”

Aria smiled, “Yes. I want to do that. Do you have a girlfriend yet? I want a big sister?”

Scout snorted behind his hand and Jet bit his lip to hide his smile, and then shook his head, “Sorry. No girlfriend. I haven’t met the right girl yet.”

Aria looked at him, “Why not? Do girls think you are stinky? A lot of boys at my school are.”

Jet coughed to hide his laugh and Scout turned away and Jet looked to see his parents hiding their smiles, “Nope. I don’t think that’s it. I just haven’t met the girl I want to be with yet. That’s all. But I swear I will shower first before I go on a date with her. Okay?”

Aria nodded, “Okay. And put on deodorant. Boys need it. That’s what mom said.”

Jet nodded, “They do. You are right.”

Aria smiled, “Did you know I got to take time off school? Mom got my homework though. Boring. Dad lets me swim and then we have to do homework. I hate it.”

Jet kissed her hand again, “But we have to do homework for your smart brain. You know it’s good for you.”

Aria rolled her eyes and then sighed, “Yeah. I guess.”

Jet smiled and Scout said, “Yep. We have to do homework. It’s good for you.”

Aria looked over at him, “Will you help me then? Dad doesn’t like some of it.”

His dad coughed and Scout nodded, “I can do that. Bring your homework next time you are here and I will help.”

Aria grinned and Jet lay back on his bed, his stomach protesting being up so much.
