No one messed with his woman or his family and got away with it.
No one.
ChapterSix
Honor
Honor cried until she fell asleep and hated that she had even given Gage a chance.
She knew better. Knew he wasn’t a good guy. Hell, she had sewn him up in her bedroom after he had killed someone.
She knew that she was an idiot for even entertaining thoughts about him. On him. With him.
And freaking hell, she had let him taste her! Eat her out and give her pleasure.
She never in her life had given a guy a thought enough to do something like that.
And the only guy that made her body come alive was a bad guy?
She sat up in her bed and punched her pillow.
She was so angry and hated how much he had her twisted up inside.
“Gah! Boys are the stupidest!”
She heard a throat clear and looked up to see Truth standing in her doorway and her sister’s eyes were wide.
“Did you just say boys are the stupidest?”
Honor bit her lip and looked away, “No.”
Truth walked over and sat on her bed, “Liar. What’s going on, Honor? You don’t date. Why are boys stupid? Did something happen?”
Honor shut her eyes and Truth touched her leg, “You aren’t good at lying Honor. So don’t try.”
Honor opened her eyes and looked at Truth.
She threw her hands up, “I met a guy. Like I have never felt like this before. And here I am, a stupid idiot, because he lied to me and told me I was it and he didn’t touch women, but then later he said that I was just a means to an end when he was talking on the phone. So I don’t even know what to do or how to feel. I thought he was it for me. And that I found someone who could love me for me. Heart issues and all. But no! He is just a stupid boy who is stupid.”
Truth sat back, her eyes wide, “Um? What? I was gone for like four days. How did this happen?”
Honor looked up at Truth, “I met him the day after you left.”
Truth’s eyebrows were so high on her head they disappeared into her hairline.
“You met him after I left? Good lord. I never go anywhere and the second I do, chaos.”
Honor snorted, “You got that right.”
She sighed and put her head down on Truth’s shoulder. “There is a reason we don’t date. And I wish I had listened to that advice. Boys are dumb. Men are dumb. I never want to try to date again.”
Truth put her arm around her shoulder, “Tell me. I hate that you are hurting.”
Honor gave her the condensed version, up to when she heard Gage on the phone and how she left without an explanation.
Because how could he give her an explanation?
Truth tapped on her chin, “Do you know what he does for a living? Like he told you he works for his cousin?”
