Aynsley’s eyes went wide as Bo said, “Even after all that, I have never found a woman to give my time to. Never tried until now. I knew the minute I saw Avery’s picture that she was meant for me. That I would do everything to keep her safe from harm and give her the world.”

Her eyes went misty, “I wish her father felt the same. He gives me anything I have ever wanted, except his heart. It was all I wanted when we dated. He broke mine into a million pieces when he told me I was just a distraction until he found someone else. And they have been distractions too. I’m telling you, no, begging you to be careful with my daughter. She deserves the love I wanted. To know that she is the only one in your life.”

“I would cut my own arm off before I let her get hurt. I swear this to you.”

Aynsley nodded, “I will hold you to it.”

She handed him her phone, “Send the picture to yourself. I will tell her about you when I get home tomorrow.”

He grinned, “Thank you. You will have my number if you need to contact me. I want to meet her as soon as I can.”

Aynsley smiled, “Don’t worry. I won’t forget. I promise. In fact, here. Her salon is called Between Hair and There."

He grinned, "What city are you from?"

She told him, and he went still, "Have you always lived there?"

She nodded, "Yes? Why?"

"How old is Avery?"

"She is twenty. Why? How old are you?"

He let out a breath, "I'm twenty-five. I just missed her by a few years. Damn it!"

"You live there too?"

He nodded, "The next town over. I'm assuming she went to Franklin High?"

Aynsley nodded, "Yes. She did."

Bo looked over at Hudson, "My fucking dream girl has lived in the town just over from me and I never knew it."

Aynsley's eyebrows raised as Hudson’s eyes went wide, "You have been a little busy, Bo. It's not like you chose not to know."

Bo took a deep breath, "I just can't believe it. I have been searching for her and yet, nothing."

Aynsley held her hand out, "This is too freaky. There is no way you are from the same town. None."

Bo pulled out his wallet and opened it to show her his address, "I am."

She looked up at him, "You are really meant to be aren't you?"

Bo nodded, "I know without a sliver of doubt in my mind. She is mine."

Aynsley shook her head, "Well. At least you aren't afraid to claim it. If anyone is going to be with my daughter, I want them to not be a secret and for the man to declare it to the world."

Bo grinned, "I can write it in the sky if you want."

She laughed, "No need to go to that extreme. But I appreciate the thought nonetheless."

Bo laughed too, and then he sobered, "I'm flying back tomorrow for my week off. Do you think I can see her?"

Aynsley nodded, "I'm not sure how," she trailed off and then looked at the hair falling into his eyes, "You look like you need a haircut! Oh, you could book an appointment with her!"

Bo felt the smile spread, and he ran a hand over his head, "I do need a haircut. It's gotten a little long."

Hudson snorted, "You look like you could be the lead singer of a nineties boy band."
