Aynsley just smiled, then said, “Oh, I have to go. I will call you later. I love you, Avery. And the new hair? It’s amazing.”
The phone went black, and she texted a picture to Jessica, smiling when her grandma immediately texted back, telling her that she looked gorgeous.
She set it down, and the back door opened, and one of the girls walked in, smiling at them as she walked to her station and set up.
Her name was Juliette, and she walked over to them, “New hair? It’s so cute!”
Avery stood, “Thanks!”
Juliette touched the end of Avery’s now pink hair and smiled, “I love it. Did Kynlee help?”
Kynlee nodded, “Sure did. Someone had to make sure her roots were covered.”
Avery laughed, making Juliette smirk, “So true.”
She winked at them and then went to her station and did what Avery had when she walked in.
Putting her tools out to dry and turning on her curling iron.
The other two girls walked in and did the same after complimenting Avery on her new hair, and the other nail tech walked in, hugged her, and went to her station.
Kynlee winked at her and made sure her stuff was set up how she liked it. Avery went to the front to wait for her first client.
It was a haircut and color. Avery greeted her when the woman walked inside, walking back to the station to do her hair.
All day, she was busy, and she was glad that she was. That her small salon had taken off like she hoped it would.
When she had a break, she quickly ate lunch. When she walked back out, she looked at her books for the day and saw a new entry.
It was a male haircut and was her last client of the day.
The name was Bowing Cannon.
She thought it was strange, as he was new, but she got new clients all the time. His name seemed familiar, but she couldn’t figure out why.
She didn’t have as many male clients as one of the other girls, though, who specialized in men’s haircuts.
She looked at Jane’s schedule and saw that she had an opening when Kynlee walked up, “What are you doing?”
Avery smiled, “I was going to give this client to Jane. She does more male haircuts than I do. I thought she might want him.”
Kynlee shook her head, “Nope. She is going home early tonight. She already asked me. Her boys have a soccer game.”
Avery smiled, “I will block her out then and I guess will meet this new client. I hope he is nice.”
Kynlee looked at her strangely and said, “I’m pretty sure he is nice.”
Avery lifted an eyebrow, “Oh? How do you know?”
Kynlee grinned, “I made the appointment. When he, um, called earlier he seemed nice.”
Avery shrugged, “Okay. Whatever you say.”
She left the front desk and checked her station, sweeping up some stray hairs she hadn’t seen when her next client came in.
She did a quick trim on the woman’s hair, and then it was time for her new client.
She walked up to the front and put a few notes in the book about the woman and her cut for next time when the little bell dinged over the door.
