He shut his eyes. She loved the view of his long lashes as they rested on his cheeks.

He had more scruff today than in the pictures, which did wonders for his face.

She turned the water off and got some shampoo in her hands, lathering it up slightly and then putting her fingers in his hair.

He let out a small groan when she did that, and she tightened her fingers slightly to give his head a massage as she washed his hair.

His fingers tightened on the chair's armrests, and she smiled as she massaged his scalp some more and washed his hair.

She ran the water over it and then put some deep conditioning cream in his hair, letting it sit for a minute.

Then, he looked at her, “When did you dye your hair? In the pictures your mom gave me, your hair was blond.”

She blinked down at him, “You talked to my mom?”

He nodded, “My friend, Hudson, saw her take pictures of me. I wanted to ask her why and she told me. She showed me the pictures she had of you. It was sort of a trade. She had pictures of me, I wanted pictures of you.”

Avery chuckled, “Well. That’s not something I expected to hear.”

Bowing’s eyes went warm, “Let me tell you. The first time I saw your face? I knew. Right then and there in that airport, I knew you were mine.”

“How can you be so certain? You only saw my picture.”

He smiled, “Because just from looking at your face, I knew that you were different. That you had an inner light that calls to me like I’m a moth and you are the flame. I want to drown in it. To bask in it. I looked at your picture all night and made it the screensaver on my phone. I had to see you every minute I could. When your mom told me about you, about your past and hers, I knew then too that you were meant for me.”

She turned the water on, washed the conditioner out of his hair, and gently rubbed a towel over his wet hair.

“Come on. Let’s cut this. I want to hear more.”

He smiled and reached out, taking hold of her hand, letting her lead him to her station again.

He kissed her hand once more, then sat down and waited.

She rubbed the towel over his head once more, causing him to laugh.

Then she pulled his long hair up into a clip, and used her clippers to take some of the length off his hair.

She didn’t want it gone, so she trimmed it up, making it nice and clean, then trimmed it on his neck and around his ears.

When she got to the top, she took some of the length off with her scissors but didn’t take it down too much.

He watched her in the mirror, “You don’t want my hair shorter?”

She shook her head, “I like it a little longer.”

He grinned, “I’m glad. You do whatever you want with my hair.”

She smiled, then checked to make sure his hair was even before putting her scissors down and styling his hair how she had seen it styled.

He looked at it, “Just like I would do it, baby. You have talent.”

She laughed, “I have done this for a while. I would hope so.”

He caught her hand, “Will you go out with me tonight?”

Just as she was about to answer, Kynlee walked up, “Oh. Nice haircut. I like it.”

He smiled at her friend, “Thank you. I found the best hairdresser in town.”
