Then she waved to Avery and walked out of the door, and the other girls left too.
It was just the two of them, and Bo was still in her chair, his hands resting on his knees.
“Are you ready to go get something to eat?”
She nodded, “So ready.”
He inclined his head toward the door, “Let’s get out of here then so I can feed you.”
She smiled as she turned the lights off and made sure the back door was locked.
Then they walked out together, and Bo led her to a nice truck sitting outside, helping her inside.
She still could hardly believe he was here, that he was real.
She pinched her arm softly, making herself jump as she did.
So this wasn’t a dream. Good.
She wanted this to be real so bad.
CHAPTER5
BO
After flying back to his home base airport, he got off the plane as quickly as possible, making his way to the exit and getting in his truck.
He wanted to get to his girl as soon as possible, but he had to stop and see Aria first and say hello to his parents.
His appointment with his girl wasn’t for a few hours, but he was impatient, so he needed to stay occupied.
As soon as he pulled into his parent’s driveway, Aria, sitting on the porch swing, stood.
“Bo! Welcome home!”
Bo grinned, “Hey Ari bug. How are you? How is the reading going?”
She smiled up at him, “It’s good. I’m on a new series now. I love it. Did you want me to show you?”
Bo nodded, and Aria pulled out a book, showing him the cover and moving over slightly so he could sit down with her.
Her hand crutches were on the ground, and he noticed they were wrapped in dark pink tape.
“Did you break your crutches?”
Aria shook her head, “No. I just thought that since I’m going into my senior year of high school, that they should be more grown-up? If that makes sense.”
Bo wrapped his arm around his little sister, who had grown into a beautiful girl.
He still remembered sitting on the chair behind her, brushing her hair while reading to him.
She wanted to be as normal as she could, and she was smarter than everyone gave her credit for, but she wanted to prove to herself that she could learn and do hard things.
So, she worked hard with Farren, Rowen, Jet, and him to read better, do math easily, and excel in school.
He was so proud of her.
He kissed her temple, “You are a grown-up Aria. If people can’t see that, then that is their issue. Not yours. You are amazing. No matter the color of your crutches or not.”
