He looked around as Avery closed up her shop for the day.

The other ladies had gone home when he talked to Kynlee and Avery, and now that Kynlee was gone, it was awfully quiet.

Avery walked out of the back, and he led her to his truck and helped her inside.

She smiled at him, and her pink hair hung down in soft waves around her beautiful face.

She jumped a little in the seat, and he smiled down at her, then he reached up and cupped her face, leaning down and pressing his lips to hers.

She let out a soft noise as he did, and then he leaned back, looking into her slightly wide hazel eyes.

“I had to taste you. Your lips looked like they needed it too.”

She nodded slightly, and he smiled, then walked around and got in the driver’s seat.

He reached over and put his large hand on her lower thigh, and she put her hand over his.

“I just need to remind myself you are real.”

She looked over at him, “I am trying to convince myself of that too.”

He grinned, “Is it working?”

She nodded, “It is.”

He looked forward and drove toward his favorite restaurant, and she lifted both eyebrows, “I have always wanted to eat here.”

He looked over at her, “What stopped you?”

She shrugged, “My father likes to eat here and I didn’t really want to run into him or anything. Plus, it’s expensive.”

He lifted her hand to his lips, “We don’t have to eat here if you don’t want to.”

She shook her head, “It’s fine. I would like to try it. I really do.”

He grinned, “That’s my girl. I usually only meet West here. He usually tries to spoil Cord with fancy meals and fancy shit that he can afford. Cord has kind of gone off the beaten path a little. Hasn’t really made the smartest decisions because he is acting out. So, whenever West is home, he tries to show him what a good life he has. That he needs to make better choices. Because West sacrificed a lot to get to where he is now and still makes sacrifices for them. He just doesn’t want Cord to throw all of his potential away by going down the wrong path. He sees more in his brother than that.”

Avery nodded, “I understand that. Cord was a good kid and he was really kind to other kids that didn’t have what he did, but yes, there are some kids that weren’t the best that we saw him hanging out with. I hope West can help him. Cord really has too much potential. I have never met someone as smart with math as Cord is.”

Bo helped her from the truck, leading her into the restaurant with a hand on the small of her back, “Yeah. Cord is crazy smart. So is West. It’s a big reason why he became a pilot. He is good with numbers and things like that. While that isn’t the only thing pilots do, it helps. He is fearless. But I know it hasn’t been easy for him or his family since their father was paralyzed at work. West gave up a lot to fly and work to help his family pay the bills. He still works more than a lot of the other pilots, because he wants to make sure his parents are taken care of. That his dad has good insurance. That his mom doesn’t have to do it all alone. I feel like Cord doesn’t quite get it. That West has done a lot for them, and Cord has been given a hand-out. He hasn’t had to work hard like West did because of that.”

They sat down at a table, and Avery studied him from under her lashes, “You are a good man. Did you know that?”

Bo sat back, “What do you mean?”

Avery smiled softly, “Just hearing you talk about your friend and how you hold him in such high esteem? It’s a really neat thing. I like that a lot.”

Bo smiled, “I try. You should hear me talk about my brother and sister then.”

She leaned forward, “Well, I’m all ears.”

Bo chuckled, “Let’s see. I have an older brother. His name is Jet.”

Avery blinked, “No. Really? His name is Jet Cannon?”

Bo laughed, “Yep. I’m Bowing. After the Boeing planes and our little sister is Aria. It means air in Italian.”

She smiled wider, “Is your dad a pilot like you? Is that why?”
