Avery said, “Not great. I’m here with Bo and a few men that know something that you should know.”

“What’s wrong?”

John gestured for Avery to put the phone on speaker, which she did.

“Hello ma’am. This is John Cannon.”

“John. Hello. I’m Jessica Wall. What may I do for you?”

He told Jessica everything he heard from Ashton. She let out a growl, “Damn it. I knew he was going to try to do something like this. You are one hundred percent certain about this? How is Ashton flying on a private jet? He doesn’t have the funds for something like that. Let alone to do so repeatedly.”

John looked at Avery, then back down at the phone, “I’m not certain. I do think that one of the board members pays for it all. Though I don’t know his name. He is always there.”

“Describe him to me.”

John looked at Will, who nodded, “He is tall, with black hair, that is graying at the temples. He has cold blue eyes, looks like he will take no crap from anyone, and has a tattoo on the inside of his wrist, though I haven’t been able to see what it is fully. He never rolls up his sleeves.”

Jessica swore, making Avery raise her eyebrows, “That is Sean O’Grady. He was my husband’s choice to take over the company, but I didn’t like how cold he was. He is mean to his core. I have no doubts that he is the one pulling the strings. Ashton is just a puppet for him.”

John nodded, “I don’t know what to do. I just had to let you know. Things aren’t always what they seem. I worry for you, for Avery and Aynsley.”

Jessica went quiet for a moment, “You truly think that Ashton would hurt them? Hurt me?”

John looked at Will again, who hadn’t taken his eyes from Aynsley.

Will nodded again, “I have no doubts that Ashton and Sean will do what it takes to take over your company. They have both been spurned by you, thus making them have something in common. They want revenge. I’m guessing though that Sean will let Ashton take the fall if things don’t go right. And he will have no problems taking over after. They both want you out of the way. Since you made Aynsley and Avery your beneficiaries by giving them shares on the board it painted a target on their backs.”

Jessica sucked in a breath, “I am getting on a plane tonight. I will do my best to have someone track Ashton down. I won’t allow this to happen.”

Jet stepped forward, “Ma’am, I think that would be a mistake. We need to see what he will do first.”

Avery heard some rustling on the other end of the phone, “You want me to let him go through with his plans? You must be joking.”

Avery looked at Jet, wondering what his plan was.

“So far, all we have is hearsay. We need to have him do something in order for us to have actual evidence. I know you don’t want anything to happen to Avery and Aynsley. Trust us, we don’t either. We have to get him to snap. To follow through with his plans. Otherwise, this will all be for nothing.”

Jessica sighed, “I don’t like it. I’m sure if I dug, I could find something.”

Jet looked around, and Steele said, “Dig then. We are afraid you won’t find anything concrete. Unless Ashton isn’t the smartest. So far, I’m leaning toward he isn’t the smartest if he makes plans out in the open.”

“Ashton isn’t the brightest, but Sean is. Sean is ruthless. I didn’t want that for my company. Even though my husband did. I saw him for what he is. Ashton could have possibly left a trail. But Sean will be clean as always. I will have someone look, but do it in a way that Ashton and Sean won’t be suspicious.”

“I can have one of my team look as well, but we will need your help getting in. Your systems are good. It will take more time than we have for him to hack into your system to find anything.”

Jessica said, “Whatever you need. Avery, give them my phone number and I will be on the first plane out.”

She hung up the phone, and Avery gave Steele her number. They left, no doubt going to see what they could find on Ashton.

Bo pulled her to her feet, “I’m taking my girl out of here. When you need her again, text me.”

Avery shook her head, “What about my mom?”

Will stepped forward, “I will see your mother safely home.”

Aynsley’s eyes were wide, but she said nothing as Will gently guided her from the house.

Avery waved to John as they walked out and Bo lifted her into his truck.
