She kissed his chest, “I will be safe. I have you and your brother’s crew to watch out for me. I just hope they find something on Ashton soon. I don’t like that he is trying to come after us. He is the one who lost the company, not me.”
Bo chuckled, “I know baby. He didn’t make the best choices. That’s certain. With anything in his life.”
She nodded, “He really isn’t the smartest cookie.”
Bo laughed, “He certainly doesn't sound that way."
Avery smiled up at him, "Let's not talk about that. Not right now. Not when I'm in your bed, naked."
Bo leaned down, kissing her, knowing she tasted herself on his lips.
He made love to her all over again. She fell asleep on his chest after that time and he held her.
He made a vow to her then and there that he would do all he could to keep her safe.
In the morning, he took her home, letting her shower, because her grandma was coming in and they needed to meet her.
He was going to go along, when he got a phone call from Jet, "You need to come to my office. We have something."
He knew it was important for him to find out all that he could to keep Avery safe, so with a kiss, he left her in her mom's hands.
He drove toward Jet’s office, pulling into the parking lot a few minutes later.
He walked inside, greeted by Norma, their office manager.
“You know the way to go?”
He nodded, walking to Jet’s office, and looking around at all the men present.
“I’m here. What’s been going on?”
Jet looked over at him, “Scout found the shit we are looking for. We are dispatching a team to apprehend Ashton right now. However, we didn’t get a thing on Sean.”
Bo felt his stomach tighten, “There wasn’t anything on him? At all? There has to be some sort of dirt on him.”
Scout looked up, “I combed through his entire history. He is clean as a whistle. The man doesn’t even have a single ticket on his record. If he is a bad man, it doesn’t show it. Ashton, however, is the opposite. He hasn’t done much to hide his many infidelities, or the fact that the reason he almost lost the company was because he gambled all of his own money away, and skimmed money off the books. Someone found out, so he had them fired and took more. People didn’t get paid and he almost made the company go broke. He still owes a lot of money to really bad people. Which is why he wants the company. As soon as he hands over the reigns to Sean, Sean pays Ashton’s debts and he can live quietly. But if he doesn’t pay his debts, he, his sons, and his wife are all targets for the mob. He even tried to promise Avery to one of the higher ups, but they won’t take the deal Ashton proves that he will follow through. He is getting desperate. Even more so now.”
Bo felt his body tighten, “We need him put away. Is what you have enough to get him thrown in jail for the rest of his life?”
Scout nodded, “That and more. He is in a lot of trouble. And keeps digging his hole deeper.”
“Do we know if he is going to come after Avery? Or when that could happen? I need to have eyes on her.”
Scout shook his head, “He kind of went radio silent in the last day. I think he will try to go after her, but she has someone watching her. She isn’t alone.”
Bo nodded, “Good. Who?”
“Will Tate. He was in the Army and is knowledgable about everything.”
“Good. I think that I will keep eyes on her too. It can’t hurt. I don’t want anything to happen to her.”
Scout nodded, “Same.”
Steele pulled his phone out of his pocket when it dinged with an incoming text, “Will just picked up Jessica at the airport. He is taking the girls to lunch.”
Bo turned away, “Tell me where they are going and I will be there too.”
Steele nodded, “Will do. As soon as Will let’s me know, I will message you.”
