Avery’s smile widened, “See?”
Aynsley took a breath, “What about you though? We live together. I don’t think you would appreciate having a man in the house all the time.”
Avery laughed, “I think that won’t matter. Bo is not going to go slow. We haven’t yet. I doubt having me live in his apartment is going to go normal speed. Mom, you have done so much for me. Have sacrificed a lot so that I could have the best life, and I did have one. It’s your turn now. You don’t have a little kid running around. You have no more excuses. That man is cute, hard-working and loves you. Has for years. Take this chance. Life is too short to be alone and to let Ashton win because he was a horrible man who hurt you. Will is good. He is here, has been here.”
Aynsley nodded, “You are right. Okay. When we get this whole thing figured out with Ashton, I will talk to Will.”
Avery elbowed her, “Talk to him now. I will sit in the back.”
Then she winked at her mom, walking quickly to the SUV Will was standing by.
She got in the back seat and her mom got in the front.
She seemed nervous, so Avery turned her phone on, flipping through a few apps while they drove to the airport.
Kynlee texted a few times, talking about how great West was, and how much she loved him already.
Avery was happy for her. She was in love with Bo too.
When the car pulled up to the airport, Jessica was out front with her small bag.
Will opened the back, setting the bag inside and helping Jessica to sit in the back with Avery.
Jessica hugged her, then squeezed Aynsley’s shoulder.
“I wish we didn’t have to meet under these circumstances. I wanted to just have a few days with my girls.”
Avery hugged her grandma again, “We will take care of this, then have the time. And besides, if we do take care of it, you can retire. Because the man you want to take over will be free and clear to do so.”
Her grandma smiled, “You are right.”
She squeezed Avery’s hand, “Let’s do this. I want to make sure Ashton is put away. I’m ashamed of him. That he is my son. I can’t believe he would throw his life away like this.”
Avery held her grandma’s hand, “He made his choices. You did what you could with him. They are his choices and his alone.”
Jessica nodded, “You are right. I will do my best to let this go.”
Avery smiled, and Jessica said, “Where are we going to eat? I am famished.”
Avery told her the restaurant they chose, and Will drove them through town.
He kept looking in the rearview mirror, his dark eyes serious.
When they pulled up to the place, Will helped them out, standing by them as they started walking inside, when two cars pulled up on either side of the SUV and a few men jumped out, surrounding them and shoving them into the two cars, making Avery cry out in alarm.
She saw Ashton in the front seat of her car, talking on his phone, and the man who had shoved her in the car pulled out into traffic.
Jessica was next to her, her face pale, as her eyes narrowed at her son.
“Ashton! What do you think you are doing? Let us out of here!”
He turned to look at them, “I think not. I have all of you where I want you.”
He turned around, ignoring them as they drove toward an airstrip outside of town.
It was used for small planes and private jets, making Avery’s stomach drop the closer they got.
She saw a jet sitting on the tarmac, ready to go, the stairs down and waiting for someone.
