Will ran to the front of the plane, “Aynsley! You need to help the pilot! He is bleeding out. The bullet must have hit his carotid on the way out.”
Aynsley jumped up from her seat as the plane wavered again, and Will got the man out of the seat, taking over the controls and leveling the plane out.
Aynsley took off the jacket she was wearing, pressing it to the man’s wound in his throat.
The bullet had left him in a bad place and Avery could see just how pale he was.
“Avery, check on Sean. I know you don’t want to, but he can’t die on our watch.”
Avery unbuckled her seatbelt with shaking fingers and walked over to where Sean lay in a tangled heap on the ground.
He was bleeding from his stomach and leg badly, and his eyes were rolling in his head.
Will called out, “Jessica, secure Ashton. He needs to answer for his crimes when we land. I don’t want to risk him waking up and hurting someone else though.”
Jessica did as he asked, tying Ashton’s hands together with the belt that she wore.
Avery turned back to Sean, her hands shaking as she looked around, trying to find something to hold to his wound.
Jessica was beside her, taking off her expensive jacket, and pressing it to the wound on Sean’s stomach, “Go see if there is a first-aid kit on board.”
Avery nodded, standing up, looking around the plane and finding the kit in the back of the plane.
She hurried back to her grandma, unzipping the small kit and finding bandages, gauze and other things that would help to keep Sean from bleeding out.
She handed a few of them to her grandma, then stood, walking to where her mom was trying to help the man.
But she knew it wasn’t going to work. The man was gray and she heard him try to breathe, but he couldn’t pull air in his lungs.
The jacket her mom was pressing to his neck was soaked through and Avery knew the man wasn’t going to make it.
All because of her father and his greed.
When he took his last breath, Aynsley hung her head, looking up at her, then over at Will, “He is gone.”
Will cursed, “Fucking hell. This is not okay,” he looked back at Jessica helping Sean, “Go see if you can help him. We don’t need two deaths on our hands.”
They stood, walking over to where Sean lay, the pool of blood under him much less than the pilot.
Jessica had his leg tied off with a tight wrapping of gauze, and it seemed like the blood hadn’t soaked through as much.
But his stomach was another thing.
She and Aynsley knelt next to him, doing what they could to pack his wound and tape as much gauze over the top of it as they could.
Jessica had Avery hold pressure there and Avery did as she was told.
Will called from up front, “We are going to be landing soon. Can you guys sit down? I don’t want anyone to be hurt while I land this thing.”
Aynsley stood, “I can sit, but the others can’t. He is too unstable. I don’t know if he will make it much longer. His stomach is pretty messed up.”
“Fuck. I radioed the tower to let them know that we have injured on board. They have an ambulance waiting. And Bo is there with the other men from the crew.”
Avery looked up, her arms getting tired from holding the constant pressure on Sean’s stomach wound, but knowing if she didn’t, he would die.
“Bo? He is there? Really?”
Will nodded, not looking back at her, “They were going to find us in the helicopter. I let them know what was happening and they stayed back, knowing I was on board and would get you back safely.”
