“You’re very perceptive. Lumi used to have a teen crush on him, but he was never interested in her that way. It got a little awkward for a while. You should have seen her at his wedding.”

Jolene’s eyebrows drew close together. “Was she in love with him when he married?”

“How else would you explain her walking five kilometers in high heels to get home without telling anyone?”

“She left his wedding?”

“I would say she fled, but we don’t bring it up. It was a long time ago, and they have moved past it.”

“But he’s divorced now.”

“Yes. For a while, I wondered if it had anything to do with Lumi, but it doesn’t look like it. Anyway, it’s none of my business. I just hope my sister finds a good man to love her. The problem is that she’s horrible at flirting, and she has no patience for soft men.”

“Same as me,” Jolene said with a smile. “I prefer big bad wolves who chase me.”

I slid my hand under her crimson-colored robe and cupped one of her breasts. “You’re done running. You’re mine now, and I’m keeping you.”

Jolene gave me a soft smile. “I was hoping you would say that.”

“What? That you’re mine? You knew that already.”

“Yes. But I still love to hear you say it.”

“Don’t worry. I’m happy to tell you every day for the rest of our lives.
