“Anytime, my princess, but do me a favor.”

“Yes?”

“Sleep at my place tonight. I would feel better if you do.”

“Damian, relax. John White isn’t dangerous, and even if he was a psycho, he doesn’t know where I live.”

“How do you know? He’s worked closely with Charles for years. He could have snapped it up along the way.”

“He’s going back to the US.”

“Today?”

“Yes. At least I think he is.”

“What hotel is he staying at?”

“I don’t know. Please don’t make this into something it isn’t.”

“It’s my job, and I’m tellin’ ye that I’d feel better if ye slept at my place tonight.”

I was quiet.

“If ye don’t want to sleep at my place, at least let me stay the night at your apartment.”

It was silly how much I missed him when I should relish my time alone, but the thought of making love to Damian won. “All right. Maybe we can have a little fun then. All morning I’ve been distracted with sexy images of you and me in my head.”

Damian’s voice lowered to a seductive tone. “Is that so? Well, ye’re not alone. I’ve replayed these past days in my mind about a thousand times already.”

A tickling sensation between my thighs made me cross my legs. “Then come over tonight. But Sunday I’m spending alone at my place, and it’s non-negotiable.”

“Deal!”

I should hang up, but I loved the connection to Damian, and so I asked a question to stall for time. “What are you doing right now?”

“Right now, I’m waitin’ on Big Red. We’re about to leave headquarters, but he’s been in the jacks for ten minutes.”

“Where are you going?”

Damian laughed. “That’s classified.”

“How exciting!” I said, but he only snorted.

“I don’t know about that. It involves some surveillance, and ye can ask Kit how boring that can be.”

“But you love your job, don’t you?”

“Not as much as I love ye.”

“Ahhh…” I laughed, “You charmer!”

“I try.” Damian laughed with me, and just like that, my office felt comfortable and safe again.

“I’ll see you tonight, Big D.”

“Is that yer new nickname for my dick?”

A loud guffaw erupted from me. “Nooo… I meant D for Damian.”
