“How about ye start?” I suggested.
Lumi lowered the paper and tilted her head. “You were born in Ireland. Or was it Thailand?”
“Ireland.”
“Were you born in Dublin? No wait, you once told me that your parents lived up north.”
“They did. I was born in Belfast, and I was well into my twenties when I moved to Dublin.”
“That explains a lot.”
I gave her a sideways glance. “You mean my accent.”
“Yes, it’s thicker than most here in Dublin. Anyway, your birthday is September seventeenth. Your nickname at work used to be Rook when you were a rookie, but now they’ve changed it to O’Rogue because it’s close to your last name O’Rourke.”
“Both are correct.”
“I believe your favorite color is… I don’t know, is it blue?”
“My favorite color.” I thought about it. “I haven’t been asked that question since fifth grade. I like a lot of colors, but if I had to pick one, I guess red stands out.”
“Why?”
“Red is the color of love and passion.”
Lumi frowned and looked away. “Your favorite food is… hmm... I’m going to say it’s pizza.”
“Pizza is in the top five, but it’s not number one.”
“Then, Thai food, maybe?”
“My mom’s tom kha kai is out of this world, but I’m also a sucker for a good old shepherd’s pie.
“Okay, and what about your favorite season; it’s spring, isn’t it?”
