“So are ye sleepin’ together or not?”

Damian had pulled us into the kitchen, where he took a beer from a bucket with ice. “I told you. I’m sleepin’ in Lumi’s bed.”

Logan narrowed his eyes. “Ahh, I see. Ye’re sleepin’ next to Lumi, but not with her.”

“What happens in the bedroom is private,” Damian said with a smug smile, while I rolled my eyes and whispered loudly to Logan.

“Nothing happens.”

“Logan, hey, how’s she cuttin’?” More people came to the party and distracted Logan, who excused himself with another warm smile in my direction.

“Here.” Damian pulled a Sprite from the ice bucket and handed it to me.

“I didn’t say I wanted Sprite.”

“Then what do ye want?”

I looked over the selection of whiskey, vodka, gin, and rum that stood on the counter next to the ice bucket. “I guess a vodka Sprite is fine.”

Damian mixed it for me and handed me the glass.

“Thank you.”

Clinking his bottle against my glass, Damian made a toast, “May ye have the hindsight to know where ye’ve been, the foresight to know where ye’re goin’, and the insight to know when ye’ve gone too far.”

“Sláinte.” I took a big sip of my drink, and Damian downed half the beer before leaning against the kitchen counter with a troubled expression.

“Lumi.”

“Yes?”

“Ye made it clear that it’s none of my business who ye date, but I’m still goin’ to repeat what I said the last time. Logan isn’t right for ye.”

“Are you kidding me? After what happened last time, you have the nerve to tell me that Logan isn’t good for me?” I turned my back on Damian and wanted to walk away, but the damn handcuffs made that impossible.

“I’m tryin’ to watch out for ye.”

His words angered me. Turning around, I confronted him. “Thanks, but I’m an adult now. I can take it from here.”

At that moment, Logan came back into the kitchen. “So, how long are ye in this experiment for?”

“A week,” I said and took another sip of my drink.

Logan ignored Damian when he gave me one of his charming smiles and leaned closer. “Lumi, I was thinkin’, can I have your number? Maybe we could meet up for dinner next week.”

For me, this week’s experiment was about setting my heart free from Damian. There was no harm done in meeting up with an attractive man like Logan. Jolene and Atlas would be proud of me for socializing.

“That sounds fun.” I picked my phone from my back pocket and ignored the burning stare from Damian.

When Logan left again, I put my phone away and turned to Damian.

“Stop behaving like a controlling father.”

“He’s twelve years older than you,” Damian pointed out in a low sneer.

“Call it daddy issues, but I like older guys.”

“What daddy issues? You never had a dad.”
