“Then they could separate.”

“But what if they already had a child on the way?”

We were swallowed up in the crowd of wedding guests eager to get out and congratulate the couple, which made it impossible for me to answer.

When we finally made it to Kit and Owen, I told her she looked beautiful and introduced them both to Noah.

“Awk, so this is the lucky fella who gets our River?” Kit took a look at me from head to toe. “Aye, ye’ll do. Ye don’t look half as timid as all those aristocrats she’s brought home to meet us, or that awful American who overdosed in the bathroom.”

I blushed red. “Kit, why don’t you show Noah your wedding ring so he can see a traditional Celtic one?”

With a bright smile, she held out her hand. “See how it’s two clasped hands?”

“It’s lovely,” Noah said and leaned in to see better.

“Thank ye. The design of these rings can be traced back to Roman times.”

With at least eighty other people waiting to congratulate the couple, Noah and I moved on. We stood around talking to my family a little before we drove with Maximum to the country estate where the wedding reception was taking place.

“This is grand,” Maximum said with a small whistle as we drove up to the place. “It’s a good thing that Kit had years to save for her wedding.”

“Her father paid for her dress,” I commented. “I know Liv and Charles offered to help, but you know how proud Kit is. She’s been dreaming of this day forever.”

“No, but all I’m saying is that this place looks expensive. Kit doesn’t make that much money, does she? And Owen isn’t a rich man either from what I know.”

“Maximum, stop fretting about it. Kit wouldn’t throw a party like this if she didn’t want to. They must have found the money somehow, so let’s just go and give them the best wedding they could dream of.”

The venue was stunning, and everything was dripping with romance from the elegant chandeliers to the candelabras on the tables. We were given keys to our room, and Noah was impressed with the elegance of it.

“This is something else than my room at the farm,” he laughed and threw himself on the bed.

“We have an hour until the party begins. The couple is having their wedding pictures taken. Wanna have some fun before we go downstairs?” My tone was flirtatious, and he reached for me.

I’d only just gotten on top of him when there was a knock on our door.

“Who is it?” I called out.

Nathan’s voice sounded. “You said that you wanted to say hi to your nephew.”

I got off the bed and to the door fast, opening to see Nathan standing with his baby boy in his arms.

“Oh, come here, you gorgeous little boy,” I cooed.

Nathan laughed as he handed me his son. “Careful with the head.”

Noah came from behind and admired Lucas over my shoulder. “He’s cute.”

Nathan’s face was soft with love as we all stood looking at the wonder that was his child.

“How old is he?”

“He’ll be six weeks on Monday.”

“Are you enjoying being a father?” Noah asked while I told the little fella how handsome he was.

“You have your father’s eyes and your mother’s nose. Oh, look, he even has your curls, Nathan.”

“I know.” Nathan grinned and looked from Lucas to Noah. “Being a father is amazing. Serena and I are both tired from the lack of sleep, but if you ask me right now, I want at least ten children.”
